Reasonably priced racking idea ?

Hey

I saw these on eBay :

Brand new at £49.99

They'll only hold one standard size unit across, but they're quite deep so you could stack a couple on each shelf.
I thought they were nice and simple in a rather industrial, minimalist design.

Certainly a lot cheaper than the dedicated hi-fi equivalent. Equipment racks must be the biggest rip-off in the industry. Which is saying something.

I would look on Ebay for a Target TT HiFi table, simple but a reasonable place to start. Sound Organisation also worth looking at. I was never a fan of Alphason tables. If you can find used Atacama those are worth considering too.

In black, got it cheaper than shown when Superfi had one of their deals on. Very useful to have open sides to accommodate wider than standard equipment & rack is very solid (top shelf can take 40kg).

£170! Hi fi rack for millionaires! Seriously, why should a bit of pig iron and some mdf knocked together by a dollar a day merchant in China/somewhere be so expensive?

I paid £100 for my Apollo rack 20 years ago so that is £200 now. Don't think I would be too keen to get robbed like that again. £50 would be more like it.

I've actually got both the Target TT table and the taller 5 shelf version but I switched to a glass "entertainment" table instead because they were just really ugly.
These ones combine the two and I think are rather elegant in their own way.
I like the fact they can be bolted to the wall too - if you look at the top bar, there's a screw hole in the middle.
I think two next to each other would be quite smart :)

I paid about £120 a few years back which I thought was quite reasonable for a solid, well made rack (shelves are tempered glass). Have been looking to replace it with something more furniture like (in wood) but new prices for these are prohibitive.

Yes, but they will do much less damage to the sound + they can be levelled. You pays your money and takes your chance.
