Hello,

I'm an American who has liven in Birmingha, for a long while. Love all kinds of music but folk music is closest to my heart. Also love rock and jazz. Just upgraded my speakers - the new ones sound amazing. My equipment is:

Turntable: Project Carbon (DC)
Cartridge: Ortofon 2M Red MM*
CD Player: Onkyo C 7030
Phono Peamp: Cambridge Audio Azur 551P
Amp: Musical Fidelity E10
Speakers: Q Acoustics 3050
Speaker Cables: QED Silver Anniversary XT
Interconnects: Monster Cables of some sort, QED Performance Audio 2
Rack: Norstone Bergen 2
Headphones: Sennheiser HD495, AKG K550
Headphone Amp: Musical Fidelity V90HPA

Looking forward to hanging around and making some new friends!

Hello Dave. Welcome to AOS.

Sounds like you're enjoying your sounds. I'm sure you'll find plenty to interest you here.

If you have plans for any system changes, we'd like to hear about them.

Enjoy the forum,
Geoff.

Next change will probably be upgrading the stylus to the Ortofon 2m Blue. Thinking about adding another pair of cans - probably Sennheiser 650s. But the main upgrade for this Summer or Autumn will be getting a new amp. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Looking to spend around £500 give or take.

Hi Dave, welcome to AOS. Enjoy the forum. When you say getting a 'new' amp, 'new as in not second hand? These days i tend to go down second or third hand, when buying gear.

New means "new to me". Could be second hand. I picked up the E10 for £20 10 years ago and it has served me well. Depends on what's available. The joys of buying equipment! :)

If it works for you then simply enjoy, that's the main point of hifi. :)

The Thorens is very special indeed. I'm 6 years in with her now and I'm still finding out what she can do as I've just upgraded my cart again and for the final time me thinks... It's a fun little thing. :)

6 years? A mere novice; I've had mine for 43 years!
