I don't know why, but I find this turntable beautiful :

Now, does anybody knows whether it sounds good ?

Looks nice but I would check out some of the classic denons and micro's that pop up on hifido.

Add a 100 / 240V step up and there you go..

No Idea, I'm afraid Dimitri, and beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so they say! ;)

Oh God that's bloody 'orrible, Andre... It's like a Mechano set on a bad acid trip, and it's driven by an elastic band! :mental: :eyebrows:

Dimitri, it's unlikely that the Denon in your photo will sound any better than a stock SL-1200/1210.

As for a fully modified one, well...... ;)

I dig wood (when applied in a novel and artistic way), Andre - but I'm not really into clear acrylic used as a material for turntable plinths, etc. I know it's fashionable, but I hate it. To me, it just looks cheap.

The only place I'd have acrylic on a turntable is in the construction of the platter.

Yep, I wasn't referring to the design of the turntable you linked to, but rather things like Clearaudios, etc :)

Sorry Andre... however good this may sound, I could never put such a turntable in my living room...

I mean, these modern-looking turntables (although objectively made with attention and taste) are on the opposite side of my subjective way of acceptable-looking (never mind good-looking) turntables. :(

Scroll down to the bottom the page of the link below . It's kind of a pricy dress-up but it looks cool. http://www.kabusa.com/frameset.htm?/

http://www.kabusa.com sells a nice wood drop in base for Technics 1200 & 1210 tables. They are under the accessories/technics at the botton of the page. It's little pricy but it looks cool.
