DIN speaker socket replacment - blanking plates and 4mm socket

I have a couple of old rotel amps with din speaker sockets, on one of them someone has removed the din speaker connectors and left 2 round holes with wires and terminal blocks sticking out.

I can find replacement din sockets which would be a drop in replacement but thought it would be better to fit some 4mm sockets or speaker binding posts

The holes must be 15.5/16 mm diameter which is too big for most binding posts so I was thinking about din planking pates that I could drill a hole in and fit the binding posts to these.

I don't want to do any invasive damage or non removal changes

I can find blanking plates for XLR connectors but they are too big

Has any one seen and blanking plates for DIN sockets or speaker binding posts that would fit a 15.5mm hole ?

If so where do I get them. (I cant find them on the bay)

It will not be easy you may demolish some component in the chassis and reinstall during operation but if there will not be any other good option and there is enough place for it;

- you may first make the hole wider (21 mm) with this

- and then use the frame of the below terminal and put speaker terminal instead RCA.

You can use bananas easily but for spade need to choose suitable long terminal where the connection part will not stay recessed.

Many thanks for this suggestion, I had looked at these blanking plates but I didn't want to cut into the amplifier cases - the goal was to keep it in a state that could be converted back to original.

If I cant find another way I will put DIN sockets back and use a convertor lead with in line 4mm sockets

The easy way that can easily be reversed is to use two washers, one inside and one outside of the case with a hole in the washers large enough so that the speaker binding posts or 4mm sockets will fit through the hole and fix with the usual lock nut arrangement.

Measure what size hole you need and search ebay, M8 washers will take a Deltron 4mm panel mount banana socket for example. you need them with large enough outer diameter to cover the panel hole which might have to be penny or mudguard washers etc.

They have got packs of large round washers in Wicks, with either an 8mm or 10mm centre hole for silly money, £1.49 or £2.29.

Because it's too obvious :) and you where looking for a particular part rather than thinking outside of the box :)

Also consider nylon washers as they are easy to adjust the hole size or width if the holes in the amplifier are close together and you need to make some flat parts on the edges etc,
