Nabbed one of these this morning for a very good price :eek: Sounds excellent full working no belt issues :eyebrows: Beautiful looking thing too this is going in my collection with the Marantz & Denon Cassette Players i now have 3 and must have no more the collection is getting out of hand :eek: 2 monster Yamaha RXV 1500's in couple of other bits too....:mental:


Many on here on this machine or a nak similar?

Nice find.

I have a couple of mid-level Nakamichi cassette decks: a BX-2 and a BX-125E. No longer use them, as I don't listen to, or record onto, cassette anymore.

Cleaned her up last night checked all belts they seem to have been fitted quite recent :) Its a shame i cant get the gouge marks on the casing off careless stacking on this poor beauty shes in her future home now..

Their amps and receivers were really good too. We sold lots of the Amp 2 I remember. Big and ballsy, rather than squeaky like a Cyrus 2 could be...

I love those early/mid 80's tape decks. All flourescent displays and millions of buttons. :-) I had an Aiwa (couldn't afford a Nak) and it was a thing of beauty. One like this:

It did a funky tape calibration thing. Well impressive, even if the results were not always obvious. :lol:

I always wanted a reel to reel but that was well out of my price range then. I remember drooling on the windows in Tottenham court road. And actually there were some hifi shops there too. :doh:

Later on I went for DAT and that was good while the heads lasted. But you can't beat the sound of the old 80's cassette deck. I still have a Teac which works fine but need to go and get those tapes out and have a listen. Lots of lost treasures of the 1980's pop on there.

supposed to be quite good those Aiwas, or at least the 770. I've got a AD3800 though I've a feeling it started chewing tapes so needs a fettle.

I have over 200 tapes I made for the car; mostly copies of CD and LPs I had, as well as some stuff recorded from the radio (Radio 3's 'Late Junction'). However I don't listen to them anymore. Perhaps I should dig them out and give them a whirl.

Who to service it?

Old three head Denons used to suffer the springs pulling the head block into playback position losing tension, causing wow and tape 'weave.' I have a 24HX (I think it is) in the loft and haven't used it in years. I shall have to run it to see if it's ok still - probably won't be.
