Yes.. Fried Green Tomatoes at the whistle stop Cafe is an awesome movie, dragged some mates to see it when it first came out. There was resistance but they all agreed it was a great film. Jessica Tandy and Kathy Bates are incredible in it.

Quatermass and the Pit... fantastic, as are the first two but number three is the best IMHO.

The Fountain very interesting movie..visually stunning but a touch to arty in a self conscious way...IMHO

Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind also very good.

Ones I could have listed

One I forgot about which I loved when I saw it is Stranger than Fiction well worth seeing.

Classic SCi-Fi
Forbidden Planet is a very good movie as are This Island Earth, Day the Earth Stood Still (original), Village of the Dammed (original), Earth VS the Flying Saucers, First Men in the Moon

I love Ran and a lot of other Jap, Chinese movies too. The first Azumi movie is excellent.

For me:

1) The Godfather I and II, Scarface or Taxi Driver (can't decide). Al Pacino and Robert De Niro are my favourite actors of all time.

2) Goodfellas or Carlito's Way (can't decide) - yes I love gangster movies! :eyebrows:

3) Any Quentin Tarantino film, Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, From Dusk 'Till Dawn, etc - I just love all his stuff!

Sneeking in there just underneath that would be The Shining, Alien (the original) or Predator - and also any Western with Clint Eastwood in it, or his Dirty Harry series. Some of the old classic war films would also be there or there abouts :)

I nearly went Pulp Fiction, (& Kill Bill 1 & 2 would be in my top 20, but couldn't justify 2/3s of my top 3!)

Haha... I like very dark, psychologically 'disturbing' films best... They suit my equally very disturbed mind (I kid you not!!) :eyebrows:

it consists of 5 short films, which consist of some seriously messed up stuff! A dog on crack, a woman hacking herself to pieces, and a man talking to a bowl of oatmeal! awesome.

oh and has anyone seen 'Bad Boy Bubby'? highly recommended

I saw Day of the Dead in the cinema when it was first released.

A lot of people walked out - just couldn't take it!

Not as bad as the remake of the Fly with Jeff Goldblum. That was interesting as the gruesomeness really builds in that one - a lot of people walked when he demonstrates how he eats his cookies! Another bunch went on the inside-out baboon - strong stomach required to make it all the way through that one - although it loses its impact on the small screen.

Oh I was going to add Jacobs Ladder as well - real head trip of a film!

Yeah, I've seen both of those Marco...

Ichi the killer is excellent, and Grotesque is pretty nasty, with very little plot.... plenty of blood guts and severed limbs and penises

Its a good but flawed story. There are elements I don't like, such as The Sister Hood and other things but I can't remember them...its been a long time since I watched that story. I guess I am not that anal about Dr Who...not a stark raving mad Whovian who can quote dialogue etc.

Like many BBC shows, low budgets ruined the effect of many of the creatures seen. The blob is supposed to be the terror of the galaxy and the race the Sontarans have been at war with for thousands of years The Reutans....poor. However the story is very good and despite the low budget I think this story captures quite a bit of the same vibe HP Lovecraft managed in his stories.
