can anyone suggest a better solution for the binding post jumper leads on these speakers?

e.g. would forked jumpers fit under the screw down caps?

cheers!

Spades should fit fine I think. They are just normal connectors from memory. Then use bananas for the speakers

like these16109 youll have to measure how wide the binding post is so the spade wraps around, mine were not quite big enough for my IQ30's so one lug of the spade went through the hole in the binding post with the other lug wrapped around, worked fine though:)

Thanks, that's what I called forked in my initial post because it looks more like a fork than a spade; 'see'?

Sorry.. Never thought to give a pic. Dunno why they are called spade teminations but they are. They come in different sizes.

Strictly speaking you are correct in that your pic shows a female spade connector which mates with a (proper) male spade connector. The ones used for speaker posts are generally referred to as 'spade connectors' but are actually forked spade connectors or spade connectors (forked) ....

How many candles would you want ?

here's a crap diagram of the binding posts, it shows why the spades won't fit:

these look unsightly and a bit of an after thought (big ears!)

same as my iq30's, one lug of the spade going where those jumpers are now and the other wrapping around the outside, what you have there is a neat enough solution?

You can get piggyback bananas too

I use IQ50s as the rears in my AV set up. If memory serves I sacrificed a drill bit to let me run cable as jumpers.( the clear speaker plug plastic bodies when drilled melted and ruined the drill bit). Once done you can run whatever cable you fancy as a jumper.

no, ~ AND it doesn't make a secure connection either - no matter how hard you try to tighten the caps they still remain loose and movable!! No good at all!! :stalks:

"YES!" ~ that's what I've been doing today - SPOT ON! I used heat shrink as insulation BUT the heat gun slightly melted the clear plastic collar; no big deal really. This is a much better connection! Also, considering angled 'pins'.

This is similar:

Spot on....once its done its done. I used wee lengths of TQ Blue seemed to settle the treble down a smidgeon. I had tiny lengths of Cord signature that were quite bright and sibilant.

You can now experiment for pennies!!!!

There is a lot of debate as to whether different cables influence the sound style and quality! Must be minimal? As long as it's decent quality I'm happy!

internal wire can so I suppose links may too; doesn't take much sometimes to change a speaker, especially up market stuff.
