I have a Fidelity Research FR-54 with a missing counterweight, I'm currently using two large bolts and an oversized weight from unknown arm with some clever use of electricians tape & bluetack... while it works it's not the most convenient setup to adjust. Finding an original FR-54 counterweight I feel is not going to be a fruitful search (at least one hasn't popped up this far) so I'm looking for a substitute. The counterweight hole needs to be 1/2" (12.7mm) and it should ideally be of the type you tighten with a screw through the side of the weight. I researched Rega weights and it seems some of them should work, but I can't remember for which arms anymore and the info seems a bit difficult to dig up. There are aftermarket Rega weights that look like they should be ok, but they tend to be a bit costly and most of them have silly things going on. Tracking force on the FR-54 is adjusted by rotating the end stub, so to make use of that feature the weight should be such that its mass is evenly spread around the center hole, instead of something designed to lower the center of mass.
If I recall correctly the original FR-54 weight is about 120g, but I'm thinking +/- 20g probably wouldn't be end of the world. Anyone got any ideas which Rega weights might work, or any other weights with half inch center hole?
