Can you let me know of anything you see from day to day that has not changed aesthetically from say the '60's to now?

ie: the escalator or the supermarket shopping trolly! Some things just can't be improved..

Actually, my stereo isn't so far different to the way it could have been in 1976, only the cabling and preamp is out of place and the preamp is nearly twenty years old........

we actually touched on this in a thread not so long ago andre... i just cant find it now!
i posted a quote by someone who i now cant remember that went something like this

i love basic design, something that does only what it needs to and nothing more... i find it very satisfying! as a photographer i use (for my trade) some very high tech equipment.. i love my camera, it takes amazing pictures! i dont use it outside of work anymore though .. i prefer to use cameras that only do the things they need to

notice the similaritys? .. its not a perfect design for all photography.. but it is for wat it is intended. leica still make a fully mechanical camera (much like the original m3) to this day!

A shame that noone seems to make modern versions of the out-house built 1940's mechanical chiming clocks I love so much (like Garrards). The current Hermle's and similar all have wafer thin plates and bronze bushings in an attempt to maintain some semblance of longevity, but they aint the same...

I personally think the m7 was a good progresion.. Couldn't afford one though hense me having a m6 and buying a voigtlander r2a instead of m7.it's also good to have 2 similar bodys. I use the m6 when I have a bit more time to think about a shot and the r2a on apeture priority when I'm doing quiker fire stuff. You are right though, leica m cameras are pretty good stuff! And haven't evolved that much concidering. They don't even differ that much from oscar barnacs original design of the leica (0) introduced in 1914. 95 years of development and all that as really changed is the adition of a lightmeter (+ apeture priority and ttl flash), interchangeable lens, and a built in rangefinder.... Genius that barnark chappy!
