Mortality - Our own !

I may well be incorrect here but over the last couple of years I get the feeling that some of my most respected musicians have reached a point in their lives whereupon they have started to reflect on their past and their own mortality. It all started for me with Dave Gilmour’s album ‘On An Island’ which I found was a striking tale told by a man who thinks he is moving on to older years. This was then followed up by an album by Damon Albarn called ‘Everyday Robots’ which takes a highly reflective look at his childhood years and his frivolous days of youth.

Now I come on to ‘Black Star’ by David Bowie who took things a whole lot further by knowing he probably wasn’t going to last another year. This album is quite striking for me especially the title track with the B – C – B chord change that adds a massive amount of hauntingly beautiful sounds to it. I find that for me, the best track on the album is Black Star as it moves me in quite a profound way. OK, so I find that the low frequencies are too boomy and not resolved anywhere near enough but I love this track for reasons other than hi-fi. That bass guitar is almost completely lost in a mush but this album is about so much more than that.

RIP that man.

Comes to most of us once you get to a certain age, and have a serious illness, and or lose folk near to you. Some folk carry on regardless, but most reflect a bit and take fewer chances I guess.

I haven't felt a young thing for a while. Keeping my options open though! ;)

a few weeks ago emale neighbour across the road was walking about with light on in the scuddy :D dont think she realised that at night she was in full profile :rfl:

I did the decent thing and closed my curtains..................... a bit.........after a while ;)

As I approach 61 years old, not sure how many more "things" I want to accumulate.
Actually thinking of reducing my guitars from 4 down to 2, and naturally some, if not all, the proceeds will go to stereo upgrades.:)
Then again, if my hearing gets worse, what do I have left to enjoy?

If worstvhappens then go for a sublime mid range....thats the way if your not hearing the highs why bother paying top dollar for them
