Best way to extend phono RCA cables

Hi all.

I had a thought of moving my TT a little further from my system and obviously buying a longer RCA lead is what's needed, is there anything else that I can use that would reduce/combat deterioration on the signal? I was thinking of some kind of transformer, maybe?

The cable would need to be about 3m. And I'm currently using MM cart.

It would be good to hear from anyone running a TT with this kind o distance from the phono stage/pre.

This was just a passing thought, anyway.

You really need to get your phono preamp close to the turntable and have the amplified signal do the long run to your amp.

Im running 2.5m to my phono and not noticed any problems :) I managed to find two brass female ended connectors to join to the longer cable to my TT...my phono amp is on top of my amp so not far from it.

But it's not line level until after the phono amp surely?

I use similar now and then and I can't say I've heard any deterioration in the sound.

3 mtr for a phono lead is a bit long and will, probably, result in a loss of HF.

If you have a separate phono stage, this should be sited near the turntable and a longer lead used between that and the amp. If the phono stage is built into the amp, then you will have to site this closer to the TT.

If you really want to run a 3 mtr incon, then a good phono/phono should be used and you can then hear if the sound is compromised.

Ive got some of them somewhere... work fine. Ive had a 2 meter cable to my phono before and that worked ok.

The coupler sounds like a plan. But if I was to simply go for a longer cable from tonearm to pre (as my phonostage is in the pre) which would be a good choice? I've never really experimented with cables from the turntable you see. Would silver ones be good or would another KLOTZ or Mark Grant one be just as good?

Just to point out the link above is to an RCA to F plug adapter, not Female/Female RCA.

I can recommend the Audio Note AN-C Jo. It is superb on the phono side of the system, adding none of the false glare that some cables do.

Thanks. Not seen or heard that stuff, Grant. Looks good... might look at second hand first of all though. Seems expensive but I'm sure it's top notch.
