View Full Version : Is Twitter an overlooked audiophile publicity tool?

We have to admit that old-fashioned thought it maybe, we aren’t that keen on social media from a commercial perspective.

Yes, we have a Facebook site but truth be told, we don’t do anything with it. Yes, we have an auto-feed plug-in that feed posts to FB but it’s been some weeks since we looked and for us at least, we see it as commercially irrelevant. But with Twitter though, that’s a bit different.

We took a look this morning at our Twitter stats. It said “Your Tweets earned 48.5K impressions over this 28 day period” Hmm, nice – but what does it mean; is helpful and so on?

Their definition of impressions is: “Number of times the users saw the Tweet on Twitter”. Okay, so a daily average of 1,732. Seeing as we’ve put zero effort into this, other than activating the auto-feed, that’s none too shabby. We have 700 followers and the growth there is accelerating.

But has it translated into increased site visits to AN&MR.?

Yes, but …….. but what?

If were selling equipment and / or music – rather than disseminating information – then our perception is that we’d be no better off. That said, we’ll continue because the publicity does us harm and to reiterate, takes zero effort on our part.

Before leaving this topic, one amusing example from many re our Twitter feed. Remember Sam The Sham? Even if you don’t, please take a took at this: http://www.hifianswers.com/2016/01/doug-sahm-and-band-limited-gold-vinyl-lp-by-doug-sahm-and-band/

In one 24-hour period, it generated 817 page hits on our site. Investigating, that was predominantly down to Twitter.

Re Twitter as an audiophile tool, if there’s anything of potential interest to report in the future, then we will. Don’t hold your breath though.

Thanks

The folks at AN&MR
