Raspberry Pi 2 + Iq DAC + I've wasted far too much time on this.... somebody take it off my hands before I resort to a sledgehammer! Pi, DAC, case, PSU and micro SD card, currently loaded with Volumio £45 delivered UK

I've tried all sorts, Grant. I just can't get it to work reliably. SQ is fine, but using it is just totally frustrating. The last straw was using in a bedroom system, mainly to stream Spotify, which at one time worked quite well, and Spotify just disappeared from my library and I just couldn't get it back. I'd rather use an iPad and bluetooth, at last that's reliable.

Glad you sold it, David, and hope Nathan now has fun with it :)

However, it always shocks me when folk complain about how difficult to use or unreliable the RPi is, as mine has worked faultlessly since day one of its installation - and it plays music here superbly, for hours on end every day, with ZERO problems.

It's all rather bemusing where all the hassle comes from....

I think if you dont get good help quite quickly then it can become a dead end and you lose interest quickly. If your comuter minded r have someone, like you did then it all becomes a lot easier. I was lucky that some folk on here helped me initially and mine was partially set up when I got it from Rich. I have now learned much from here and messing about with my 2, but if I didnt receive the initial help then I would likely have chucked mine in bin too:)

I can see how frustrated people would get with it.
My two have never loaded my NAS library despite multiple attempts.
Thankfully I had run a Linn DS before and made the link that 'other' software could control the Pi's.
In fact recently discovered that Lumin controller work brilliantly, picking up the NAS/Twonky/Minimserver and 'seeing' both my RP's as Lumin players.
If it wasn't for reading of other experience on here, plus my own limited knowledge - it would have been the sledgehammer for me as well!

I had loads of invaluable help/advice from various members to get set up initially. Now really enjoying my Pi as a result.

If spotify is your aim then a google chromecast audio is the easy way, it appears as a spotify connect device in spotify and it just works, perfectly.

Not really, Mark, I already have Sonos which works well. With the flurry of forum activity following Marco's 'conversion' I was curious to try out the Pi route.
