Time to end the tinkering ?

I've had this Inspire HiFi Quest TT for about 6 months and it's been an absolute ball ache, that is until I joined this forum.

Having suffered with speed issues and humming/buzzing for 4 months, my patience had run out. This thing was going in the bin.

Then a breakthrough. A new Subplatter sorted the speed issue and Alan( Firebottle) diagnosed and cured my buzzing issue.

Now, I'm a happy man. The DIY section got me soldering interconnects and I'm now listening to fabulous sounding music.

What are you going to tackle next, a speaker project? There are some great simple designs about.

I rather like wide or full range high sensitivity drivers myself, but not exclusively. IPL sell some excellent transmission line designs, which are not necessarily high efficiency types.

First, trash the sorry excuse for a counterweight on the RB250 and replace it with a Michell Technoweight, Clearaudio or summat...
You will be surprised! :)
I liked the look of the chassi by the way, purposeful i'd say!

Ha ha that made giggle. Arm upgrades are on my mind but I was thinking I may upgrade from rb202 to rb300 rather than stub, weight etc on a cheaper arm.

And for the arm, i personally like RB2xx with another counterweight/stub better than any RB3xx i have heard so far. (They are a'plenty...;)) Not a big difference though. Both of them benefit from a better (underslung) counterweight but the RB2xx much more so.

I still am considering it, just apprehensive.

I think I'm gonna go for the counterweight upgrade, tangospinner Subplatter upgrade then maybe look into veneering. Finally I may look into the external power supply. But that's serious money by then lol

It does look rather industrial to me (plinth) and a veneer would help give it some class if done well so I may take some time to learn how to veneer like a pro before I start that escapade ! [emoji848]
