Selling these rather fine speakers due to them being a mismatch for the rest of my system. They are in fairly good condition with only a couple of minor blemishes. These speakers are designed and built with low powered valve amplification in mind which is probably why i can't get them to sound right with my powerful solid state amplifiers. I want £750 firm collected from my home on Teesside or meet in a 20 miles radius. :) Specification

Surprised they dont work with your amps Steve, the speakers have been heard sounding fantastic with hefty solid state amps driving them, Stratmangler had a Nad SS amp which was a fantastic match.

With my own pair, I've driven them with solid state of different flavours, T-Amps and now finally valves.
Agree they sound great driven by valves, but not sure I'd agree they were designed with low powered valve amps, any amp I've used has sounded great!

Shame mate, but good luck with the Sale, fantastic speakers and the last pair I think.

Still for sale. Will consider sensible offers. Or swap with suitable floorstanders or good quality top loading CDP.

Steve,
I seriously believe it is a speaker cable issue if you are experiencing treble issues. My recommendation with these speakers is for simple pure copper stranded cables of the figure 8 configuration ie side-by-side layout. Anything from the Richer Sounds range or 79 strand.

Regardless I can make you an offer for the speakers, but it will need you to come down to Topps Towers in Rossendale. The offer is I will give you a full refund of the price you paid for the Edingdales against a new pair of our signature NORGE floorstanding speakers. These use state-of-the-art and have no driving issues with large power solid state amplification. I use a Musical Fidelity A300CM Dual mono amplifier with them as well as a Conrad Johnson LP66S series II. Chris (Stratmangler) can testify to the sound of these speakers. They are of a similar size to the Edingdales. Give me a phone call or send me a email if you are interested. Here is a photo of my prototype demo speakers. The front baffles can be tailored and finished either in natural wood to match the veneer or in a leather colour of choice to suit.

I have heard these speakers at Garys powered by very basic t amps through to a top notch valve amp-they really are something special.

I travelled down to Colins place to pick up another pair of speakers and he was kind enough to demo a pair for me and my good lady. He played some tracy chapman on vinyl....my wife still talks about it,she even hinted I should get a record player!!!!

Probably the best noise I have heard from a hi fi....just beautiful, unforced, textured loveliness. My wife was beguiled-I was humbled!

As Gary alluded to....maybe the last speakers you buy.....

Just a thought I've always got loads of different cables and equipment sitting around and have spent years fine tuning systems as I tend to switch at least one component every couple of months. I've done the same for a couple of mates with some success. I'm in Durham near the A19 in a couple of weeks,if you want I could come round with a few things to try out. (I'd need picking up and dropping back as I don't drive though.)

As Toppsy says Steve, try swapping your speaker cable about...you might be surprised.

Also try biwiring and single wiring. Looking at the pics I think you are already biwiring. Although technicall better to biwire (or little or no effect for some speakers), the actual sound from single wiring may be more to your taste. If not try a different cable, possibly just for high or low and then both.

I would snap these up if you weren't the other end of the country, Oh well.

It's only 290 miles and mostly on just one 'A' road the A1 once you get past Cambridge and the M11, 4 and a half to 5 hours each way depending on traffic.

A nice weekend day out to Teeside for about £70 diesel in an economical estate car if you have one :)

I don't post much on AOS these days, but I an compelled to make comment regarding this sale. Firstly, at the asking price I would be head of the queue to buy them and could readily do so. It's what I want to do and I have funds available, but sadly my dear good lady refuses them on the basis that they are simply too big (her view) in our lounge, so I will remain without them and disappointed.

I have listened to Edingdales on very many occasions as I have friends who own them, and also of course at shows and fests. I've heard them in big rooms, very small rooms, with low powered and high powered amplification and they have always sounded wonderful. They are remarkably good performing speakers and their retail price is two or three thousand pounds (possibly more) short of what might be paid for an equivalent big commercial product on the high street that might even approach their performance.

At at this asking price they really are one of the best bargains I've seen for sale on any forum for a long time. I'm really gobsmacked they have not sold so far. Possibly this post may help potential buyers to give due consideration.

Finally, I have absolutely no connection with the seller. I have never met him or communicated with him in any way. I am simply adding my three penny worth to highlight the best for sale bargain on the forum right now.

Yes, agree. This is a great bargain for somone, can't believe they haven't sold.

I do have some connection to the seller, given I know him, and indeed had a (very)small input into the design of these, but bloody hell, at this price they really are the bargain of the century!

Goodness me. Edingdales for sale at all is unusual. But at £600?!! Someone just buy them

Having heard these at NWA and extensively at the last NEBO I can vouch for how good they are. They put many of the £10K plus speakers at last years Cranage show to shame. If Steve was in striking distance of me I would have them and his arm off as well.

Now Sold. Many thanks to all who enquired about them and some of the great offers. (apart from the sheep that is, an offer i simply had to turn down.) These really are fabulous speakers but alas in my environment and partnering toys simply didn't work. I have t lick my wounds and move on.
