Valve Advice Please

Having just bought my first piece of equipment that has valves installed (Longdog Audio dual phono stage) I need a little advice please. Presently it has the following fitted:

6EM7 Power valve

2 x ecc83/12AX7
2 x 6072A/12AY7


Now do different manufacturers sound differently and can these be improved upon as I don't know the age of these and the power valve has a nasty looking black patch on the inside of the valve glass. Also where is the best place to buy replacements

Thats called the "getter", its a good thing :-)

The 6em7 is in the power supply, you can get them from ebay, RCA made some good ones, they are not made now but were made in the millions for TV use. If you want, I will test some for you before you use them.

The other two, the sky's the limit, new ones are generally good, NOS can be better to great.

:lol: :lol: Cheers Nick.....I should have just emailed you!!!!:) :) I've now put all the valves in the right position and it's still sounding awesome :cool: :cool: I'll keep an eye out, the smaller valves have 08 and 09 on them - is that the year?? still new to all this valve stuff but lovin it so far :)
