I have decided to sell these GORGEOUS Rega RP8 and RP3 turntables which came to me direct from Rega in November (e-mail confirmations can be provided). Both have been tested to ensure they are in perfect working condition, but that’s about it. Each deck has maybe had a couple of hours use in total, probably less than Rega do in QC/QA, so I’m selling as “new”.
Firstly, the RP8. My view is this deck really needs a serious MC cartridge like the Apheta or a Dynavector to shine. When I factor in the cost of this plus a SUT for my phono stage it starts to look like more than I am prepared to invest for a vinyl set up.
I don't think the RP8 needs any introduction - it's a revolutionary skeletal design made of incredibly light materials, apart from the heavy layered glass platter. The tonearm is a RB808. The deck can either be used in "naked" skeletal form or with the surround and lid. All the details are on the Rega web site.
This deck came with a Rega Exact cartridge fitted. I tested it with the Exact and it sounded excellent. I also quickly whacked on a Denon DL-110 cartridge, which I possibly preferred.
So it's perfect as I hope the photos (taken in quite poor light I'm afraid) demonstrate.
These decks retail for £1600. I'm offering this for £1050 but there is a catch in that it has to be picked up from my house in Reading, not far off Jn 10 M4. That will save me the grief and angst of packing and sending it and also the buyer can inspect it and check he/she is happy. Just by way of sales pitch, the price of £1050 is LESS than what you would pay for a RP6/Exact package and the RP8 moves you into entirely different territory :)
I’d also be prepared to meet up at a mutually acceptable time/venue within a reasonable distance to complete the transaction. However, I won’t be getting the deck out for inspection in a car park or similar and risk dropping it!

OK, the RP3. This Rega RP3 turntable is in platinum finish with a red felt mat which sets it off beautifully in my opinion. The original idea behind this purchase was a turntable for my daughter who expressed an interest in getting into vinyl. However, having seen how she treats her stuff I think this is too nice and delicate a deck for her - she needs a battered up old s/h Techie or similar! So, I have this new turntable for sale.

Inspection of the RP3 and pick up is welcome - I live in Reading as described in the RP8 description above. Alternatively, I can post. Pricing? How about £350 plus postage - that's £125 off RRP?
