Simple problem - TV and a CD deck, both with optical outs, but my amp only has one optical input. The CD player does have a co-ax output, but the amp's co-ax input is taken up with the blu ray player.

I've seen some switchable optical splitters on eBay - I can't think of why I should avoid them, but does anyone know better?

I can get one for less than £4, but I don't want to risk component damage for the sake of some cost-cutting switch.

Or should I look for a co-ax splitter instead?

I had a cheap one from ebay. Three ins and one out, with a big blue selector knob in the middle !
Like this one:

It worked fine for me.

Martin

That's the exact thing I was looking at on eBay.

No issues?

None. It worked every time and I heard no sound degradation.
