Remembering my first proper turntable.

In a sombre moment this afternoon afternoon i was looking through my late father's wallet and stumbled upon something that made me smile. It was the receipt for my first turntable and amplifier a Rotel RP1500 ait a Sure M75ED cartridge and a Sansui 2900 amplifier. The whole think came to £164:30 on the 29th January 1977. I remember taking it home and lashing it up to my Wharfedale Linton 3XP speakers and being totally blown away. To this say i think the RP1500 turntable is a cracking piece of kit and in my humble opinion pissed all over the Pioneer PL12D which was the one to go for then. As far as i am aware the amplifier is still in use to this day. I think if i was to happen across one for a silly price i don't think i would be able to help myself. It was replaced with a Technics SL1500 with an SME arm on it and i still don't think it was a massive improvement over the Rotel. I suppose it's just like your first car, always remembered with warm fondness. I am sure i am not the only one here with similar thoughts.

Hi,

I had a Sansui 2200 amp I think I bought it around 1976 or so it looks much the same as your 2900 except it was silver.
