Now, it may be just that time of year but i am sensing a malaise creeping over AOS. Clicking on some other fora i sense it there too. What's going on chaps? It could be just my paranoia or even my schizophrenia. i was only just saying that to myself only the other day. Or could it be that this being the end of a generation and more and more of us getting older that interest is waning? It's up to us to keep the fire burning before the wolves of Apple and their likes rule the musical world forever.
Shake off those winter blues NEBO is on it's way and a summer of hifi madness. The HIFI pig show looks worth a visit too. This is without doubt the best forum on the net and a great community to be in. Lets have a great 2016 guys n gal. :) "All we have to do is keep talking":peace:

To be honest, this is one of the more active forums that I belong to!! - Many non hifi related, but certain other hifi forums seem really quiet compared to here :) :) My only complaint since joining AOS is that it's cost me a lot more than I planned to spend so far :eek::eek:

If you feel its too lacking in activity, then can I suggest you create some threads to poke the nest into life, rather than just comment on the lack thereof ;)

Is the original post about lack of activity on the forums, or a comment about the same things being discussed over and over... therefore not much new activity?
I think its just a seasonal thing, as well as the fact there's not much buying/selling going on which seems to the impetus of many posts.
There's no shows on, people aren't getting out for meetups etc.

I have been finding it difficult to keep up there is so much going on but I think it's a case of the more you put in the more you get out.:)

I think it's SAD. It could be a case of post Christmas HiFi allowance shortage.
Either that, or people are too busy actually enjoying their systems to contribute on the forum.
HiFi spending is going to have to take a back seat for me in 2016, as my daughter is going to start to walk and I need to make the house and surrounding garden child friendly.

I can recommend an excellent mains lead. It even lights up at night.

The problem is that 'let's talk about something more interesting' is a guaranteed conversation killer. Discussions either become lively or they don't, and all too often a 'lively' discussion escalates into an all-out handbags at dawn scenario. The opposite is a snooze-fest of agreements to differ.
Personally, I'm off to do a PhD.

The other places I frequent are quiet too, think it is the time of year, people burnt out by the festivities and also the back to work blues, as opposed to the boogie woo give blues.:doh:

I had a couple of USB cables like that. But my kids nicked them all.
On a positive note, the Bristol Hifi Show is next month, 26th - 28th Feb at the Bristol Marriott Hotel. Good chance to meet and press the flesh, lots of LPs on sale, lots of new kit to look over (forget serious listening at most of these shows). I'll be there; happy to meet for a pint and a natter.
It's winter. Hibernate. Lack of funds. Austerity Bites. January blues. Nothing much is selling.
Any or all of these could be contributary factors.

Forums are usually the busiest in the winter but have all been a bit quiet recently, maybe people are bored or the never ending arguments at any opportunity on many forums have possibly put people off posting, lots of people do still read though and click any link to read what product has been talked about.
The move to try new streaming devices such as the Pi and Chromecast devices might have slowed forum posts volume as people are maybe happy tinkering with their new low cost streaming gadgets and listening to music rather than seeking the holy grail of accessory etc.
Ah, ok. I see where you're coming from now, mate. Yes, you could be right.
Hope you had a nice Crimbo, btw. Did you get a chance to try any of those wines? :)

Yes, I might well go to that - the only negative for me is the distance :(. I haven't been for the last couple of years and have regretted it both times. I doubt I will bother with Whittlebury again after last year and would rather go to the Bristol show.

Same for me. It's only the distance that puts me off. I went a few years ago and loved it. I was at Whittlebury last year, my first time. I do't think i will bother this year though. Got a feeling the Hi-Fi pig event might be worth the journey.

Bristol's the livelier event Mark and usually with more to see. You're welcome to crash here if that helps break up the journey.

I am in Bristol that weekend but I am not sure I will be allowed time off from my brother's wedding to pop into a HiFi show. :(

With the littl'un in tow, a HiFi show won't be enjoyable.

Still plenty of activity to feed my OCD for building amps. I've built a pair of NCC200s (and sold 'em), an MJR7-Mk2, my own amp inspired by Naim (but without the bits I don't like) and I'm currently listening to a Cambridge Audio P50 which I've fully recapped (35 electrolytics and tant caps!!!).
I normally don't bother posting because I'm not sure anyone is that interested and anyway, my flavour of the day will be tomorrow's cupboard fill.
