Fell asleep with the radio on, and woke to hear this very sad news :(

I didn't know Lemmy was ill, at least he didn't suffer for long, a small blessing.

RIP Lemmy Kilmister you will be missed, one of a kind, a legend.

Been lucky enough to see Motorhead live a few times.

Can probably attribute some hearing loss to one particular gig. Was the loudest thing I've ever experienced.

As a bass player, whenever I see a rickenbacker I think they're cool because of Lemmy and Chris Squire (also gone in 2015)

RIP Lemmy.

You aren't alone. Been upset since I heard this last night, and I had to stop reading the bands Facebook page. I wasn't a fan of Motorhead, too heavy for my particular taste, but I liked Lemmy, enjoyed interviews, there didn't seem to be any backdoors with the man - he was who he was.

I come from the Hawkwind end of things, and I think his bass playing made their 72 to 75 output essential, and only he could have sung Silver Machine. His bass playing on Warrior on the Edge of Time is excellent, powerful and nuanced.

He leaves a massive legacy of music, a huge influence. A true one of a kind, a legend.

I don't drink much, but I will raise a glass to him later today - after I come home from work - and put on some Hawkwind.

A hell of a shame.

A real rocker. None of your arty farty stuff. Just great music.

An actual honest to god LEGEND. I have seen a lot of great musicians pass on and although I feel sadness at all of them this one really hurts.
My earliest memories of gigs are full of Lemmy, Motorhead and days of ringing ears.

Thank you Mr Kilmister.

Yup, very sad to hear. Another true legend departs us :(

Rock on in heaven, Lemmy - or maybe you'd rather hell! :hairmetal: :fingers:

He was great at Glasto earlier in the year. The interview with him was typical Lemmy... a proper rock legend who kicked the tripe around today in to the dust.

A man who seemed to be true to himself his whole life, he was who he was, got to respect that. :)

I played "No sleep 'til Hammersmith" vinyl 'til is ended destroyed, then I bought the cd, then the 2cd edition. Always used to play it from the beginning to the end: at very loud volume

He was rock 'n roll to the end. They were still bloody loud and heavy at Glastonbury this year. RIP Lemmy.

Sippin Whiskey is nice, but you have to sip it, and warm. Having been a malt man for many years, going back to when I did all the Whisky stuff for the coop, I am much more a bourbon and Tennessee whisky man now...I still like Scotch and Irish(Ive even had Welsh and Japanese) but my staple is hard bourbon, as it comes, and as much as I can get ;)

Indeed, Lemmy being predominately a heavy metal man he was someone i didn't listen too though i respect his legend. He had more to do with Prog than many people appreciate however having once been Keith Emerson's manager and providing him with Nazi daggers to wedge between the keys of his Hammond. I too will down a JD for him this day. they'll be a canny old reception do gan on tha neet.

Yeah the party when he arrived must have been something special. Janis bopping, Jimi mixing the "cocktails" and Elvis tending the barbecue.

JD goes well with cola.

He's been part of my listening for over 30 years, a world class authentic icon and some damn fine tunes in the process (Dirty Love is one of the best B-sides ever).

Memories of Bristol Colston Hall...

...if Lemmy can go, we ALL are gonna go!
If anything, Lemmy going teaches us to be a wee bit more like him and "seize the day"?

Life's too short to be unhappy, and I'm sure Lemmy's Mum would have told us that. :)

Yes. I will always remember Lemmy..........because of my tinnitus. Although to be fair it was probably more Fast Eddie Clarke's fault.

I remember after seeing them in 1981, I spent several minutes revving the arse out of an 1100cc Suzuki because I couldn't hear it running and thought there was something wrong with it. :)
