Time for my TT to go I think so will offer this up. It comprises of the full deck in custom plinth but no arm or lid. Pretty good deck this and has been heard by a few guys on here.
Initially for pick up but if your prepared to risk post i will do my best to protect it. It can be bought as is or with the gold bren puck for an extra £40.
Price for the deck, plinth and mat, minus arm is £360.on pick up from here. If you wish to arrange postage i will pack it up well.

Why are you moving the Thorens on Grant?

struth

Am using a solid dd one at moment as i am getting a bit poorly balanced. I dont want to damage it so if someone wants a bespoke deck i thought id offer it Up. If it doesnt sell i will just keep it. Crazy after spending so much on it but ....hey ho!

Jesus Christ Man, have you gone completely Gaga...? I prescribe phenothiazines as a treatment. They are sure to bring back a sensible new year.

Exactly that Grant, so it seems a shame to let it go. Perhaps Shaun is right......a little chemical intervention may restore order here! ;-)

Wouldn't LSD be easier and less toxic?

It was a 3009 Mk2 improved Steven. Have a ortofon mc25 fl on it. it sounded fabulous. It can take a rega as well as I have the plate for it too,

This still here  I've seen this turntable in the flesh many times and the photos just don't do it justice . Not only is it absolutely beautiful , it also sounds excellent . If I was in the market for a turntable I would pounce on this :)

Grant don't be hasty - it seems there's been a change with your situation, but don't give in my good man. Hold fast to what makes your world a better place for you - I gave in a few years ago and regret it to this day. Keep the faith.

I'd rather Grant didn't sell it, but if needs must.... However, John, if you're seriously interested, then I could collect the T/T when I'm up in Scotland in the new year, and you could pick it up in Wrexham (only 75 miles from you), or I could meet you halfway between Wrexham and Brum.

Just mentioning it, incase you were tempted :)

Marco.

OK Grant, many apologies for the previous comment. I didn't realise there had been a change in your personal circumstances. I have been through so much myself since 2005 and had to sell off all of the hi-fi at times.

struth
30-12-2015, 14:41
I currently don't have to sell it tbh. I don't need two decks and the jbe is more stable being a solid deck. I'm getting clumsy in old age lol. Don't want to damage it. If it stays unsold then it stays unsold unless I financially have to.

No probs with any of the comments either...they are understandable

I really like these decks. I sometime wish I played more LP's as I would then be able to justify buying one. I have a Rega 2 but always look at these decks as a good upgrade.

Its a classic deck Brian thats just been updated and improved. Doubt anyone will find a better one tbh, but seems to be no interest... Such is life I guess.:)

The problem for me would be getting and fitting an arm for it.:(

Fitting is easy . Its got the sme plate on it so it just screw on to existing holes. The rega 250/300 plate is also included.. These plates are £40 each.

I strongly second this. If I had the money it'd be in my music room.

if no interest by end of week then i will pull ad I think and keep it. Thought this to be a bargain, but obviously not :D

I'll be honest here, I love this table but I'm skint. I considered selling mine and buying yours but I wouldn't have an arm to put on it or be able to afford one so that's where the dream ended for me. I hope you sell it mate. It's definitely a bargain for the right person [emoji106]

Know the feeling.... yes its looking like a strip and sell the bits job tbh. I have a nice aluminium plinth to put it in with lid, and hinges in great nick with original mat etc, so may go that way. then sell the fancy plinth as an upgrade for someone. Shame but thats how the cookie crumbles sometimes.

Some interest but nothing final yet

I have extricated the aluminium plinth and lid hinges etc and the rega rb250/300 arm board

As said it may be sold in the aluminium on which comes with a pretty decent lid. A few swirls and odd scratch but nothing much. The plinth is similar Nick with the odd mark but very decent. These were quite rare and look really good. This was initially what I was going to use before I got the bug and commissioned the American walnut one

Hang onto it for a year Grant. Thorens TTs are going up in value and demand pretty quickly. You'll get your price.

I've long admired your TD160 plinth Grant being a TD160 owner but I'm not wanting to upgrade my 160 at the moment having done so last year. Also, I'm looking to invest in a better power supply for my Trichord Dino+ as my next outlay. I do like the arm cover you have though. Is this custom built or is something similar available commercially?

Yes I was following one on the bay that went for £212. just a black plinth with lid and sme armboard in nice nick. My aluminium one should do as much easily I'd have thought if I put in back in it. I was going to fit rca's to the fancy plinth...

QUESTION>>> can you get female to female sockets that are big enough to go through the plinth as the tonearm as male rca's, or how do you do it as I aint done that on a tt before??
