Helios is still for sale, btw you can either replace dvd drive with a HD or simply plug in an external one so you dont even need a pc to start your streaming party.:)

Hook this up to a decent Dac and you have something as good as a Linn/Naim thingy for next to nowt...buy a 1tb hard drive here http://www.ebuyer.com/product/181159 and i will fill it FOC:)
Ian(Not Daft).;)
Ruddy hell, i can't believe that's still for sale. I thought it was a lovely bit of kit!
Indeed alb - I agree - I even tried to persuade one of my mates he needed it, but to no avail (he's just built a media centre pc) - with all the gadgets I've got I can't justify it, though... sorry Ian! But someone should grab it!
Perhaps a piccie will help - hopefully this is the same as yours Ian?

I've heard this; it's an awsome bit of kit and ludicrously underpriced. Connect a Caiman (or other high quality DAC) to it and it's easily as good as a Naim HDX or similar...
I kid you not, people :trust:
To all music fans into high quality streaming: let this one go at your peril!

Thanks Al/Alex/Marco,
Perhaps its because its a relatively unknown brand people are unsure about it:confused:. Myself and Duncan both had these and got great results with them and as i say the Helios is a good entry into streaming, computer audio for not a lot of money.
Ian.
What is it like as a transport? Can you rip from it to the hard drive?

As a transport its pretty good playing cd's and exellent playing dvd's,it comes into its own though when streaming files from a pc or hardrive,it ousted my 6k cd player anyway and that was good:)
As for ripping to a hardrive i'd say no.

Hi Andre,
I'm sure Ian will take one for you, but I can vouch for its condition (I've seen it many times). Ian bought it from new and it's minty mint :)
It's a bloody serious bargain and amazing for streaming (in conjunction with a high quality DAC).

Ok thanks. i know these machines are roumered to have a few hitches just wanted to ask..Aye wants a good DAC...That 24/48kHz jobbies i bought last week has been dispatched i can try that.I'm not wanting it for the CD/DVD section but handy to know the mech, i think i know looking at the layout on the front ;)

If that's your only concern then worry not. I'm round at Ian's all the time and it's never failed to work faultlessly :)

Having heard this actual device a number of times, I will be surprised if you do not think it is bloody fantastic Andre. Were I not skint, I would probably have had it myself by now.
