I just looooooove eating mince pies! Have already eaten 5 of them today.
The Mr Kipling ones taste pretty nice actually. Not bad value of £1 for 6 pies.
Anyone else here eating mince pies as they type :)

Are you playing Santa again this year?

Nah, custard is boring! This is what you need, for the ultimate in decadence:

Simply spread the butter generously on top of mince pies, place them on a microwavable plate, then pop into the microwave for 30 secs or so, just to gently heat the pies through and melt the butter. When the mince pies come out, the insides are nice and warm, and the brandy-flavoured butter is oozing all over the them, like a pool of the most luxurious alcoholic sauce... Yum-yum!
Enjoy with a glass of fine malt whisky or armagnac.
Sheer heaven!! :)

Mince pies in the microwave is a :nono: have to be done in the oven, that way the pastry is like pastry should be. The microwave makes the pastry soft and limp

No wonder why you can't fit in plane seats :D
Nope, not if you just give them a 25-30 sec blast in a powerful machine - trust me, I've done it often enough! Or just use the oven setting on the microwave instead :)
It's really just to melt the butter... By all means though, do the same thing in a conventional oven - if you're willing to heat a whole oven up, just for a couple of mince pies... ;)

Ha - that's only when you're sitting next to me, 5-pies a day boy!! :ner:

I play Santa to my family every year Shane
Costs me a bliddy fortune :)
Played santa once but got stuck in the fridge
I find most brands are too sweet, especially the pastry, so I'm making my own this year.
Lidl are doing some super ones for little cash. Best in the west
No doubt Lidl ones are good, but there's nothing to beat home-made! Go for it, Jon :)
Marco.
We're making some tomorrow with Paul Hollywoods recipe for pastry. Will upgrade the mincemeat with tad more brandy.
Made my own mincemeat some time ago down to the candied peel, this makes a big difference to the shop stuff:)
Had one of Morrisons standard pies last week. Bloody fantastic. Tasted like they had real booze in them.

+1 for the Morrisons Pies....best I've tasted, and I should know I've eaten loads.....£2.50 for 8
Someone brought marks and spencers ones to work the other day.
I had one as it's rude not to. That's me good til next December at least.

My wife looked at the pile of boxes of mince pie I had amassed after a recent shopping trip.
"Do we really need all those?"
Silly question.
