View Full Version : TV Personalities. Who Gets on Your Wick?!!

I'll start the ball rolling.
Keith Lemon. I just can't stand watching anything with him in it. He obviously thinks he's wonderful and witty and the life and soul of whatever party. Gets right up my nose!
Rylan Clark. So squirmingly awful, with his makeup and fake luminously white teeth. I can just picture him staring into the mirror at every opportunity with a pair of tweezers or dental floss handy, just to make sure nothing is not perfect. Yuk! Spew!

I am not very familiar with many so called 'celebs' as I just don't 'get it' but of the few that I do know my most hated has to be Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand for their not so funny attack on Andrew Sachs some years ago

Oh yes. Russell Brand is also on my 'despicable' list (should have included him to start with). An arse of the first order! I could cheerfully dismantle him with a chain saw. :chainsaw:

+ 1 for Keith Lemmon, I can't stand even looking at him, if he appears on tv, I instantly mute the sound or change channel, most talentless, poor excuse for a "celebrity" to darken our screens IMHO. I also mute Russel Brand and the host of rude tube, can't stand him either.
cheers Al

Keith Lemon.
It's ok, he's not real! Just a character... or is he? One of him is real but I'm never sure which, probably actually none we've ever seen on screen.

I only use on-demand so am fortunate never to watch anything I don't like with anyone I don't like on it... Ignorance is complete bliss!
Never heard of these folk. I dont really watch mainstrean tv tbh, and mostly watch films on the likes of 4 and the yesterday channel when tv -ing. Most of my viewing is via the hard drive on the freeview box of stuff I like, or off my own dvd's.
Andrew Sachs - for taking the piss out of waiters from Barcelona
Greg Wallace
+1 ... and add the other toss pot from Master Chef - and you can chuck 'Sir' Alan Sugar on the same bonfire of the vanities ...

But he was so cute with it Mike.... :)
Russell Howard. Can't stand him for even a second. And he seems to be on telly every single night.
Russell Howard, who he?
I'm with you on Keith Lemon though, Geoff. The man's a total twunt!
Marco.
P.S Martin, did you watch those Fonejacker vids?

+1. Brand, another millionaire armchair leftie, about as funny as a terminal illness.
Two other 'Stars' who would be prime candidates for bayonet practice - Alan Carr and Jimmy Carr.
Jimmy Carr is pretty funny, I think. He's offensive, but then I find offensive humour funny. Alan Carr is just a waste of oxygen.
Marco - no, I didn't go on the computer last night, I'll check them out tomorrow.

I'll let Brand off 'cos I like his politics....
Glad others find Lemon as awful as I do!
The most offensive of all are "the general public" who give the oxygen of publicity to these twunts! and seem to have the ultimate bad taste! generally the more universally popular with "the general public" anything is, the more I can't stand it! It's not a reaction against "the general public", more that over the years I've found that the worse something is, the more tacky, the greater the tastelessness, the more moronic and banal.... the more "the general public" like it!!

Isn't that the truth Jez.....
Lemon can go and get squeezed in a giant juicer for me, twunt sums him up (politely).
I'll let Brand off 'cos I like his politics....
Ditto... Him and John Lydon, both of whom should be running the country, in my view. Turf out all the useless chinless hoorays in Westmonster, and pop those two in, would soon sort out some of the mind-boggling corruption and 'jobs for the boys', which goes on for the benefit of 'the establishment' wankaz!
Marco.

You also didn't tell me who Russell Howard is. I haven't got a scooby.... He's probably on some bland/inane pish I don't watch :)
Marco.
Chris Evans. Can't stand him.
Oh! And Piers Morgan, but that one is too obvious...
Not many people I can't stand but Chris Evans is a complete tw*t IMO. Equally repugnant are Russell Brand and that idiot who plays Keith Lemon

John Lydon...must be havin a laff. He owns more property than the Blairs!!! :) :)
I used to think Brand was an idiot until I watched his documentary on Jack Karouac, which was really rather good.
I'd like to see him doing more stuff like that. But running the country? Nah.

He talks a lot of sense and is anti-establishment/royalty... That'll do me

Still don't know who Russell Howard is.... Care to educate me?
Marco.
History tells us that when a corrupt Establishment is overthrown by those who are against it, they create a new Establishment that is just as corrupt as the one it replaced.
Although must admit Lydon as PM would certainly be 'interesting '. You'd never get him to take the job, though.

His stupid show is on almost every night on BBC2 about Nine or Ten o'clock. Like me you probably saw 2 minutes of it and have avoided it ever since.
Here is a u-tube link https://www.youtube.com/user/russellhoward
If you can stand it for more than a couple of minutes then consult a mental health professional.

It would certainly be better than the protected coke-heads [and I don't mean the popular fizzy drink], murderers and kiddie-fiddlers we've got now, and had here, for decades! Getting rid of the Royal Family, a completely outdated institution, for one (who are behind a lot of it), would be a great start.
Marco.

I suspect Russell Brand has done his fair share of marching powder. He was a heroin addict for several years too...
Which is my point - if you just replace one lot of corrupt kiddy fiddlers and druggies with another lot, What is the point? Sometimes it's better the devil you know.
As for the Royals, well I used to be anti - royal when I was younger. Couldn't see the point. Now I understand that tradition, however outdated , is a vitaly important part of community and social cohesion. Coming from an Italian background as you do I am surprised if you don't get that.
I think we'll just have to agree to disagree on that one, mate. I'm referring here to the Royal Family (the 'old guard', of which are a bunch of corrupt murderers, especially that twat, Prince Philip, who ensured that Princess Diana 'disappeared'. And then there was Jill Dando...).
Anyway, best leave that discussion for another time and place.
Marco.
Anyway, how much Russell Howard could you endure?
Lol... He just seems like a bland nondescript, ten-a-penny TV presenter, of which there are 100s like him today. Completely inoffensive, IMO, but in a condemnatory way...
Marco.

As for me. His face is sort of familiar, but I don't think I've ever watched anything with him in it long enough for it to register. I'd have turned him off immediately. He has the kind of face that needs a clout. I avoid dross on the box anyway.
Yes- he is crap and annoying.
I don't like that Bettany Hughes woman. A few times I have sat down to watch a history doc and then found it was her doing it and switched off. Something very dull about her.

She was a pretty decent looking female twenty years ago. Looks like somebody's matronly auntie now. :)

Bruce Forsyth, not long to wait though assuming he's first :eyebrows:
Brucey - what harm has he done? I rather like the old guy, as he's one of the few 'old school' entertainers we have left. Nostalgia probably plays a part in it too, as I grew up with the likes of him, Bob Monkhouse, Tarby and others :)
In terms of the thread topic, I'm struggling to think of anyone on TV I feel strongly enough about for them to annoy me... For me, I either like presenters or they just 'wash over me', in an innocuous kind of way....
Marco.

Brucie is annoying, cant put my finger on it but he is - more so since getting on in age. That said he's nothing compared to someone like Jeremy Kyle - boy oh boy !! :steam:
Well, I detest the programme, what it stands for, and the useless chavs who feature on it, but I have no feelings towards the presenter, either way. Perhaps that's because I've never felt sufficiently motivated to watch a programme the whole way through? :)
Marco.
Nobody's mentioned Clarkson yet, or Simon Cowell. both seem to rub many up the wrong way

Just what do they bring to the party? :brickwall:

They both have very annoying tendencies, MASSIVE egos, and like to be controversial, but arguably both do their respective jobs better than anyone else. Neither of them overly bothers me, although I was completely against Clarkson's behaviour that led to him being sacked from the BBC.
Once thing I don't 'get', and never will, is resentment towards 'celebrities' who have strong personalities, are confident, loud-mouthed (provided what they say is interesting and/or thought-provoking), or simply because they're very wealthy: 'I hate that bastid because...' Well, because what? Because they've made more of success of their lives than YOU, perhaps? ;)
Resentment of success/fame, and/or jealousy or envy of someone's wealth or popularity, never were very attractive human traits. Thankfully, I possess none of those traits.
Marco.

On a related note, I find myself watching more history documentaries these days. Equally strangely, they all seem to be presented by the same lady - a certain Dr. Suzannah Lipscomb....

Or Lucy Worsley or both, against whom I have nothing, as they are each decent presenters.

Chris Evans, Jeremy Clarkson and plenty more which one has to avoid. There is so much smugness that becomes annoying about the BBC incestuous 'family' of presenters.

Lowlife scum seems a reasonable term to me. The sort who's idea of 'gainful employment' is backing horses each day in the betting shop. Then usually spending the rest of the day loitering in the local shopping precinct with a fag in one hand and a can of Tennants in the other, in the company of a handful of similar shitbags.

The joys of 'knocking on a bit'. Last couple of months it's been my right knee. Hurt like mad and swelled up for no apparent reason. Nearly OK now though. Before that it was my left hip playing up for a year or more. I damaged the socket slipping on a muddy hill walking the pooch. That's OK now too. Won't be long before something else happens...............
