Realistic has many interpretations! It has been rebuilt and serviced but the guy doesn't show any qualification as to his work.. and his feedback shows only one sale in the last year which may not even have been one of his high-priced rebuilds. So on that basis it's not realistically going to sell in my opinion.

But is it realistic to set a high price and then expect much much lower offers? Probably. Will the guy accept low offers compared to the BIN...?

Is it a good price? Not in my opinion. This one went for £522 albeit with one less TAU-11 attached : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PIONEER-RT-2044-RTU-11-TAU-11-/321703260045 .

Can't work out though what a 2044 is... as they both one still say on them that it's a 2-track machine despite the expensive one having the 4 channels of amplification. Shouldn't they both be 2022 (as the German one states in the Achtung! bit).

With NO NAB adaptors or reels????

Seriously.......

Errrrrr...let me think NO!!! It is a domestic tape recorder.

For that price they should be offering a 6 month RTB warranty, NAB adaptors, spools AND a free reel of tape.

I assume that at such an EXORBITANT price for what is a domestic tape recorder the seller is offering free fully insured delivery as well as calibration to the tape of choice.

Price aside to actually seriously ask such a price for a machine without even basic accessories says one thing really.

Having just looked again the chap selling only asks high money for machines and I have never seen him list a "real" machine (a studio model).

As a point of reference a fully refurbished Studer A80 (quarter inch) would sell now for around £3800.

I bet he loves thinking about how much his rebuilt decks are worth and it gives him that encouragment that what he does is worthwhile in the real world, not just a crazy obsession... and so the final bit to keep that fanatasy alive is to advertise them at the high prices. And so the two worlds collide.

Lol... I guess it's "realistic" if you can justify and afford it! If you can't, it's not. Simples ;)
