Temple Audio

Would anyone care to pass comment of any kind on the Temple Audio monoblocks since I last asked about them...? I was rather interested in four of them.

Tony ( wee tee cee ) uses them Shaun . Any time I've been over at his place his system has always sounded excellent with them in place . I'm sure he'll be able to give you some more advice on these .
I had a Bantam Gold a while back and it was very good indeed. They're very good to deal with .

I have four of the older ones with the high and low phono outputs.

I cant fault them,have run them with active and passive pres all to good effect.

They are really good with 57s and 63s. I have also ran them with Frugels and Spendor sp1s to great effect.

The respond well to battery power and dont seem overly fussy with cabling.

I always go back to them and have no intention of parting with them.

Tony, a million thanks for that.

My main interest is simply that they appear to be astonishing value for money at 550 quid for a full set when compared to the more bog standard Hi-Fi out there with which I am becoming extremely disillusioned. My plan is to split the output from my Croft Micro Basic preamp and feed four of the buggers through my KEF's split crossovers. I shall still maintain the sound of the Croft but gain over my current very old Rotel's.

This, I am hoping will be a reality around March next year.

That should work out no problem. Ive used them with passive and active Pres without any issues. A wee bit of experimentation regards the gain setting on each amp will pay dividends.

I tend to set my listening level on the Pre to about 10 o clock then adjust the amps till I get my normal listening level.

The Temple bantum gold is well thought of by the troops, the monos just build on what they do with more power/control/attack.

Theirs a thread on here to help if you fancy powering them with a battery.

I have a Temple Bantam Gold without the volume pot.
Before you go the whole hog with four mono blocks have a listen to the Gold alone.
I thought it astonishing that such a tiny thing could deliver such a powerful sound.

The monos just build on what the gold does. The most noticeable aspect is control/dynamics. They do a marvellous job with any speaker I have tried them with surprisingly so with statics.

I've had great results from digital amps with my Monitor Golds too... I was tempted once with the Bantam mono's too, I've not really heard a bad review of them.

They should sound mega with the Croft too :)

Thank you guys and gals for all of the advice and comments regarding these amplifiers.

One thing I could consider is the purchase of a Croft Micro 25R preamp for use with four bi-amped and bi-wired Temple Audio monoblocks. Would this be a total mismatch both financially and technologically...?

This combination would a bloody bargain and I would happily pay for this lot next year if my finances work out as expected.

Good to be planning what looks like a very nice purchase Shaun . I really rate the Temple Audio gear . I hope it all works out for you . Please keep us posted on your hifi adventures in 2016 :)

The temple site has a review of the monos from Enjoy the Music.com. The review is very accurate IMHO as it echoes my own observations regards the monos and my valve monos and valve power amp. I have kel84 amps as opposed to the 300b the reviewer uses but his descriptions as to the differences are spot on.

I would be tempted to try them with the Pre you already know then beg or borrow a passive/active to experiment. Temple do they're own Pre but I haven't tried it.
The review also highlights the advantages to be had going battery powered.
