Stand Problem

Hello All
Really I've got two issues.

Managed to get a hi-fi up and running again. New CD, Amp, DAC and speakers. Happy with what I have:
TEAC VRDS 10, PMA850, and Neat Critiques. The problem is that I think I now new to get the speakers up off the floor, or the little old tables I'm using at times. I've looked at the normal metal type stands, and even wooden ones (even though haven't seen one that match the wood of my speakers) but the GF doesn't think that any look any good in the room. The term "horrible black things" or "are there none that look like bit of furniture?". So any suggestions?

Next is that I'm thinking of getting a sub to help with a bit of bass.

Soooo, the guy in the shop got me thinking. Would I be better getting a bigger pair of floor standers to save on stands and a sub, plus I could sell the Neats to help.
Is this a route worth considering, and if so, which ones do you think might fit the bill?

I won't get away with really big one's, nor ones that are black etc.....or expensive ones.

Thoughts on a thread card if you will :)

I would suggest this is a better option and as long as you go for some relatively 'pretty' floorstanders they will likely have much more WAF (Wife Approval Factor) than speakers, stands and a sub. It's usually easier to hide the cabling with floorstanders as well.
Just be careful to get a good match for your 'room' as well as your partnering kit.

Yes NEAT do that. however, even though they might fall into the nice/pretty furniture category, they fall miserably into the 'too expensive' category.

Women who are too keen on that sort of thing don't tend to be my type. I suppose that doers narrow the available field somewhat. ;)

an off the wall suggestion ..go to a garden center and look at ornament plinths or tall garden pots ...[not nessesarly plant pots ] though standing the bottom one upside dawn and the top one the right way up could give you the height if its an urn type then fill with oven dry sand. I've often thought that if I were to go with small speakers I'd investigate the decorative and relatively cheap option

It's all very well sitting them on boxes or other constructions that look nice but their purpose is to sound good and if those boxes negatively effect the sound, what's the point.

Could you not contact Neat and ask what they recommend? Does the manual have anything to say on the subject? What do other Critique users use?

Ouch, £66 to have them stained in a colour.
