Hi Guy's, up to now I've been playing everything through my NAD C370 integrated amp (which I have been happy with so far) and I've just gotten hold of a NAD C270 power amp which has made a great difference!!!!! Seems to be a great pairing - However, the question is - can the C270 be upgraded in any way or do the costs outweigh any benefits?? Also who can do such upgrades??

How much are the C370's selling for ''second hand'' nowadays??
The C370 was very well rated back in the early 2000's. Looks to be a pretty powerful integrated as well!

From memory I got it from a long standing member on here (forgive me but my memory is not what it was  ) For about £250 and picked the C270 up for £200 of t'bay!!! They really do sound good together, but me being me - I'm always looking at improving what I have without trying to spend too much!!
There are a couple of C370 on ebay at the mo around that price :)
Hi Graham , you bought the c370 off me :) , I replaced it with the c162 preamp , I believe the c370 has the same power unit as the c270 and you can use the pair to bi-amp if the Rega's have 4 terminals.

Unfortunately, the regas only have 2 post and are not suited to bi-amping :( :(

My speakers are the same otherwise I would have tried :(

I had a C372 and it was very good. Replaced it with Croft Micro and Series 7. :)

It's lovely to see Nad get a mention

Have a word with Jez Arkless of this parish, he would be able to pimp it up a bit for you, if it is possible.
Does seem Odd? to me.
Seemingly you had power issues with the c370 (reason Why the additional amp made a difference)
Respectfully submit that it's dying.
NADs are surprisingly good performers in Sound Quality (better than 80% of the gear 'out there' )
Their Achille's heel is in build quality/durability. Well worth fixin though.

No... I am happy with the 370 and it gives a great sound and is more than powerful to run my RS3's with ease. But, like most people I'm always looking to "improve" my system within my budget. I kept reading that the C270 was the perfect match :) :) and it is and do's seem to give a slightly richer sound.
I think the headphone issue is likely to be an issue with it's location in the internal wiring chain and once the power amp is connected it is bypassed somehow.

Headphone issue now solved!! I've disconnected the power amp and they work fine - so after X-mas my C270 will be back on e-bay :) :) too much power for my small listening room :( :( Thanks for all your input :)

The C270 is just a C370 without the pre-amp stage. They have identical power amp circuits.

Yes I know that..but I still dont understand why the headphone socket stopped working when the power amp was connected ;(

NAD amps I would describe as 'musically satisfying' but they are far from the last word in transparency. Silverline series excepted as I've never heard them.
