Hi Chaps
Just thought i would let you know that i am still alive and kicking. I do apologise for not submitting quality posts since the most recent NEBO meeting. I have been trying to sort some everyday life matters which as many of you will understand can be very time consuming. That said i can now put my mind to matters that i find more enjoyable. I am in the process of relocating my cave and revising my thoughts on how i want my system to be. An update on such matters will come in a separate post. I suppose it's a little like a Hi-Fi spring clean. It dawned on me lately that i am demonstrating traits of the thing i like the least in audio which is displaying my wares like peacock feathers.
I had a cull of vintage turntables and high end devises a couple of years ago and they seem to have built up again. I am busy now consolidating the many good elements of my system and consigning duplicated items like turntables to storage. I have done the same with on-line forums too. It can become very time consuming dotting around from one to another and also rather confusing so i intend to post here as it seems to fit with my own likes and dislikes more often than the others. "Anyways, that's all i gotta say bout that"

Yes i do believe i have that right don't i? Even though members of another forum consider me to be "unhinged" and "a prick". No doubt this has to do with me selling one of my Phono Stages? Which i have priced well below it's worth to sell it quickly despite it being advertised on PFM for a while without one enquiry. It's a great bit of kit and sounds very good indeed which i said in my review for www.theprogmeister.com
I have good reasons for selling the item one has already been mentioned and the other i do not want to post. However, the sale has got nothing whatsoever to do with photographs posted on the other forum but another matter which will not be gone into here. I must conclude that it is easy to site forums like WigWam for bullying (which i know to be true as i was a victim) but even easier to become like them and condone such behaviour on your own forum. The proprietor of the other forum has all of my personal contact details due to being a customer so if he would like to speak to be on the phone or email he can yet chooses to side with a pack in wigwam fashion. I may be unhinged, i may be a prick, but i was also a customer and deserved a little more respect than that. Ad hominem eh? Tah! As they said over the road chaps, bag yourself a bargain.

I see that my name keeps getting dragged up from time to time over the road despite having left there some time ago. I see that one member is still under the impression that my departure was due to a picture posted by the site owner which is far from the real reason I left there. I think some folks need to move on. With regards to the sale of my phono stage, it was mine to sell!!!! Psychologically it was me putting distance between myself and an irritating situation. It also highlighted the power of forums and how they can do as much harm as good. I was about to upgrade to better speaker cable and buy an amp before I read some comments which i felt should not have been made. I am still trying to understand why grown men would want to act this way to another individual that means them no harm whatsoever? Could it be that i won't take sides in a conflict that has absolutely nothing to do with me? I know not. All I want to do is enjoy my passion and share it with like minded people without getting caught in any cross fire. To conclude, Nebo was an idea I had, worked at and improved over the passed few years. It has grown from a small get together in my friends bistro in to what it is now. The people who attend do so because they want to and enjoy the day. Some people travel miles to get there. They do not attend because they are a member of any one forum, they do so to be involved in the day and I am so glad that they do. Nebo is open to everyone!!!!!! It is up to them whether they attend or not. I feel it a shame that i feel compelled to write such statements as this but the more vitriol I see written without being fact based pisses me right off. Let's get the new year off to a start with this put to bed because it's boring and makes me even more glad that I voted with my feet elsewhere on the net. I mean no one any harm over the road but for God sake just let things go and forget I was ever there.

As Ali said, its not the first time its happened to someone, happened to me too when my MCRU distributed Music Server hit the market.
The pack mentality over the other place (not the Wam) seems to over-ride the decency of someone coming along and trying to do the right thing and get some interaction going.
I was a member for a while, but gave up after realising it was too much hard work trying to navigate through the odd personalities there.
Private PMs were made public, peoples two faced-ness was made obvious....end of the day I thought its just a bloody hifi forum, and walked away.

Thanks for that Gaz. It's a real shame because there's some good folks there and up to a certain point I was treated really well. It's as you say though a forum and it's best not to get too annoyed with it. I had some good advice and enjoyed some of the threads there but I am now glad to be away from it and not fodder for the minority there.

Eddingdales...assuming you've tried adjusting the L-Pad on the back?
I am also tarred with the same brush over the road, but as Gaz says, I really don't give a flying fcuk what they think of me or say about me.
Life is too short to worry about a small group of people like them.

At the moment NVA LS3 which i will be selling when I find a buyer. I here the cable talk is a better match?

Dunno about that, but what I can tell you is that Colin doesn't have particularly esoteric speaker cable.
He has used Monster Cable for as long as I've known him (which is a fair few years now), and he used this cable during the development of the Edingdales.
Using cable capable of supporting the national grid is not necessary.

The Edingdales work fantastic with braided Cat5 cable, use this myself.

I think that's wise Steve. Les will give you a steer.
Aside from the suitability/safely of these type of cables with different amps (discussed at length here and elsewhere), I don't really get on with the idea of using cables as bass/treble controls at all.
For me. good cable should just give you more of what is already there in your system. I recall Colin being fairly agnostic when it came to cables also.
It sounds to me as if your issue concerns the tweeter in your speakers and, whilst I'm sure it's excellent and well considered, perhaps just isn't your cup of tea.

The Cat5 stuff will work just fine with any amp not bothered by the capacitance, so you're looking at just about any valve amp, and solid state amplifiers that are designed to be unconditionally stable.
If your amp has the Naim badge look elsewhere, and it's the same with NVA - I don't know if Les' (Avondale Audio) amps fall into the same bracket. You'd need to ask Les.

Yup, best cable I've heard with them and I've spoke to a couple of other Eddie owners that use it too.
Re the HF on the Edingdales, a few general thoughts / suggestions. They're not quite 'as' most other commercial speakers, so what might be applicable to many other types isn't necessarily so to them.
In general they were intended to be used without toe-in, firing straight out into the room. That tends to give the best tonal / HF balance with them.
The Edingdale was voiced primarily for use with SET amplifiers, and that's what they give their best with, although they can be used with good results on other types -we've run them with custom SET amps from Nick Gorham, Conrad Johnson PP, First Watt single-ended class A transistors, and big Musical Fidelity class AB. So no real issues on that front.
Internal wiring is a 24ga copper twisted pair per leg (from Cat5), which is what gave the best results for this particular speaker model. As far as external speaker wire is concerned, most of the voicing was done on straightforward, inexpensive shotgun / figure 8 configured copper wire with closely spaced parallel legs (e.g. Monster, Shark, Gale / Cambridge Audio etc.) and some DIY Cat5 type designs such as those popularised by TNTaudio. In our experience the Edingdale does not work well with silver or silver plated copper conductors (tin plated should be OK), nor many of the products from esoteric / 'boutique' wire brands, especially those with widely spaced parallel conductors or other high-inductance types, which tend to kill the HF.
If possible, avoid wire smaller than < 18AWG (total per leg) unless you have very short runs, to ensure voltage-drop is minimised.

It does look rather swish and nicely presented with lots of people there from all fora. However, i will steer my ship around and stay on my present coordinates.
I simply don't know how people find the time to contribute to so many forums whilst performing everyday functions like working, eating, drinking, sleeping and other social activities including listening to music. AOS and PFM are about all i can manage.
Tas.....?? Never heard of it!

:lol: I know exactly what you mean. I've popped in on TAS and PFM too but it's impossible to really get involved in every thing and everywhere hence they barely see me. Work, wife, young ones, house, church, fam' and AOS is more than I can handle :)
