Where do I start?

Forty years of being an audio user and spurred by my love of music. My name is Yuri, I'm also on facebook, gumtree etc etc. In a few clubs on facebook and thought I'd like to be in a Hi-Fi club so here I am.
I've just gotten into valves and love them, have a couple of system, one for each floor.
I do a lot of recording onto cassette of radio shows some TV and online.
I now get my prescriptions for free and have a bus pass.
Love pets two dogs three cats and heavily into animal issues.
Okay, what do I do now?

Hi Yuri

Welcome and I notice your in Yorkshire, as am I.

One of the really good things about this and other forums is you have a like minded group of people who share a common interest but often try and reach their own "Audio nirvana" in a range of different ways. I like to hear what other people have done, how they put the system together and what equipment they have used to achieve their goal. The overriding thing that comes out of this for me is that simply throwing money at it is often not the answer. I have heard multi tens of thousand pound systems I simply would not give house room too, but conversely I have heard several relatively budget systems that were fantastic.

So in answer to your question start slowly, try and get to know as many members as you can and more importantly try and get a listen of their systems.

You will find most forum people are friendly and accommodating and will happily invite you along to their homes for a listen of the equipment they use the bonus for me in doing this is you then often get to hear new music too. Also keep an eye open for "Bake Offs" where groups get together and swap out bits of kit into a system to see what if any improvement can be achieved.

Barry's turntable looks like a Systemdek II of one version or another. They all appear a bit alike to me.
