Fresh from my first build of a Passive Pre Im considering being bold and actually building something with power :dynamite:

I have several components that may benefit from low noise PSUs (Caiman DAC Mk2 (12v), Angle Audio Phono stage (12v) and Squeezebox Duet (9v)). I'm considering building these if I can find the components at a decent price and not kill myself in the process.
I have some info on PSU design and get the gist of transformers, rectifiers, smoothhing etc (well in theory anyway) from the links below.

If anyone has some direction on a nice simple design and cost effective components that would help.

Have a look at ESP - http://sound.westhost.com/articles.htm#s7 Power Supplies
I use a LT1083 7.5A regulator for my Duet, which works well.

I understand DIY'ing is an aggressive virus but as far as we talk for Caiman Mk2 , it already has a good power regulation and filter, so why not to buy a Li-Po or LiIon or NiCd or NiMn in line according my priority and buy such a universal charger (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intelligent-Charger-for-NiMH-NiCd-1-2V-to-24V-Battery-Pack-By-1-20pcs-cells-EU-/221227238411?hash=item33822bc40b:g:gAQAAOxysstSVL7 n) if it is NiCd or NiMn.

At this seller he has for LiPo and Li-ion universal intellegent charger as well.

This shall be valid for other equipment. duet and phono stage.

Need to learn current requirement for each component and buy necessary mah battery which will drive long enough the equipment.

I use my usb-coaxial converter and Le Pacific Phono pre like this. Battery pack for converter goes 3 days , pack for Le Pacific Boozhound goes 1 month.

But if you insist PS,
Some of my friends and me ordered from this suppliers as kit which is a easy way, buy additionally necessary transformator and box it.
