My pictures if fitting the Mike New Base plate for the SL1210

Filed down screwholes and embossed lettering

Glue in base plate with aralidite.

NB - IT IS CRITICAL TO MAKE SURE THE HOLES IN THE PLINTH THAT YOU HAVE JUST FILED DOWN ARE EXACTLY ALIGNED WITH THE NEW THREADED HOLES IN THE BASE PLATE, IF NOT WHEN THE GLUE DRIES YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REALIGN THE BEARING WHEN PUTING IT BACK TOGETHER.

Just waiting for new pcb screws to come as I needed longer ones for 6mm spacers and rewire external PCB.

All put together bar pcb screws, just waiting for. Cant wait to try it.

It looks as if the Michel clamp is made from the same material, although I think it must be painted as you can't see any machining marks like you can on the platter?

This may be the Techiepedia, but I have no idea what you're attempting here, as you've not given a hint. Presumably this is an 'aftermarket' support base plate for the main bearing?

Yes, specifically for the Mike New Bearing.

Yep ! Mike New's bearing baseplate to better support his bearing which it most definitely does ;)

Sorry, yes. It's the Mike New base plate. I just assumed it was a given that everyone knew about it in Techipedia.

I see. I've owned and modified a few Techies, but not made bearing alterations. Currently residing in Lenco world and having a tinker there. ;)

Very nice thread!! And thank you for sjaring the photoes of the prosess! How did you allign the base plate with the holes in the chassis before the glue dries? Any trix:scratch::eyebrows:

And how would you describe the sound before and after?

I would use the screws to align the holes, but remove them before the glue dries.

Yes that is what i done. The new screws will go into the old holes anout half a turn. If you push down hard on the base plate and screw each screw down about half a turn it will lock the base plate into position. Without this method you may notice the base plate wants to keep moving on the glue away from the correct position.

Remove the screws after about 5-6 hours before it sets. Then leave for 24 in total to completely dry.

The stock bearing is keyed to fit a particular direction, so you have to remove a little metal to make it work. I'm not sure about the Spin bearing.
