Hi all,

Selling my Blacknote DAC 30 valve fronted digital player, in excellent condition with a few months warranty left. It's on another not entirely unknown auction site also, selling for just £1500 here.

The DAC 30 has four amplification valves in a push / pull configuration. It accepts a wide verity of valves including ECC81 / ECC82 / ECC83 and equivalents, also ECC88 / E88CC types and equivalents.

As a valve seller I have had the opportunity to try a wide selection of valves to achieve the best performance. The unlikely winner was a quad of early 1960s black plate Brimar ECC81 which offer a balanced and detailed transparency unrivalled by anything else tried. These are included in the sale along with a set of Tesla E88CC which offer a flatter sound that some may prefer. I can also include the original Russian valves if I can find them. I got the best results using an external USB/SPDIF converter which I will also include in the sale.

The DAC originally had an RRP of £4,000. It's overall performance level is similar to a Linn Akurate with a little valve magic thrown in. It has a number of inputs - 4 x coaxial, 1 x optical, 2 x USB 2.0 and 1 x AES, RCA and balanced analogue outputs. It also incorporates a preamp including volume controls and can be plugged directly into a power amp, or a preamp as preferred.
