My choice of Album of the month is "On the Boards" by Taste. I've been a fan of Rory Gallagher since the mid 70's and he was great to see live. I didn't however pick up any Taste albums until the late 80's. Regrettably I sold my vinyl copies when the recession hit and my children were of an age that I thought my vinyl playing days were over, but I have been playing this quite a lot recently and will look to grab a copy on vinyl.

I like both studio albums but prefer this one which I feel is a little more diverse with jazz influences as well as blues.

Released more than 45 years ago when Rory was only 21, I think it passes the test of time but let me know what you think.

Excellent! Rory Gallagher was one of the best guitarists ever: unassuming, unpretentious, just someone who simply loved to play the blues. I'm giving it 8/10 after listening to my LP copy. :)

If you like 'On the Boards', then listen to Rory Gallagher's 'Edged in Blue' (now that is worth 10/10).

This and Taste were and still are two of my favourite albums.
Often play these.

Happy days it's a 10 from me.

For me, Irish Tour was the album. I saw him play live.

For me, the best Rory Gallagher was "Live In Europe". I had never heard Taste until now. This is a nice sounding album, decent sound, have to give it a 10 because...well, it's Rory Gallagher! I've been listening to Gallagher since the 70s, but "On The Boards" is slightly different than I would expect, especially the long jazzy jam of "It's Happened Before..." I wish Gallagher had played more sax on his later records.

Looks like my choice was perhaps a little mainstream. I really like this album but it's a 9 rather than 10 for me. I like the earlier solo albums particularly RG, Deuce, Blueprint and Live in Europe and Irish Tour (also love the film). Saw him twice in the 70's and he was great live, the Rock Goes to College and OGWT tv shows from the 70's (I think) are good also.

I didn't think I'd like this after hearing a Rory live album , I'm not fussed on the rock guitar sound but there are some very nice tunes here and a great groove going on through out the album.
Not voting yet.

Its a 10 from me.

As a spotty 15 year old in 1970 Taste was the first live band I ever saw at The Free Trade Hall Manchester. Great show, great band, bought the album as soon as my paper round would allow and it still sits in my collection 45 years later.

Rory was a great loss to music.

A respectable 8 from me. I'll give this many more plays.

I don't really know much RG and this is a great 'taster'. Like it a lot.
