Hi,
Since i2s HAT board makers for the Pi are adding features to their boards in an attempt to either improve power (Mamboberry) or improve clocking (Hifiberry DAC+Pro, Audiophonics I-Sabre TXCO) I thought I'd mention a solution named "FIFO II Kit" that Iancanada over at diyAudio developed for Raspberry Pi that addresses both power and clocking issues.
FIFO II kit is strictly for DIY but it demonstrates that the power and clocking issues that are inherent in the design of the Pi can be completely solved.

His kit would be ideal for interfacing Raspberry Pi to high-end DAC boards for example Buffalo III ES9018.
