View Full Version : Is there such a thing?
It looks as though I will be needing longer speaker cables soon. Is there anyway I can add an extension to my current cable? If so what is the best method? Do you get such a things a a banana "socket" that I can use with the banana jacks I have at the moment and use that to extend the cables?
Or am I better buying new cables? I'm currently using PureAV cables. Is there anything out there about 6mt and not tooooo much cash?
The Microphonics on a well known auction can sound superb and they are buttons.:)
How about something like these for example http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10A-4mm-Banana-Panel-Mounting-Socket-Red-Receptacle-Console-Mount-Pack-of-3-/301725361931 Just solder onto one end of your extension cable, banana plugs on the other end, heatshrink on all connections and away you go.

I've looked for these in the past but never seem to be able to find any listed, always thought they were worth a try from the praise they get though.

If it were me, I would twist and solder the wires together, covering the joint with heat-shrink sleeving. Failing that, use a "chocolate block" connector, if you don't think your soldering skills are up to it; the screws can be done up really tight.

The easiest way would be to use another length of speaker cable terminated in banana plugs and join the two using 4mm female to female couplers like these here:

Thanks guys. I got some of the connectors in the links.
