As a new project, I started to make a new DAC.
LKS Sabre ES9018 Dac Board and Panel screen ordered from Mu-Sound
Bipolar Placid HD shunt regulator kit ordered for analog stage +-15V

for 3 seperate 5v and 3.3 V for amanero clean power supply we are going to make with my friend his design.
For those power reg.s I am looking for some components.
Where do you recommend to look within europe??

Mouser and digikey gives a high delivery for example for Mouser 92 USD components 60 usd delivery

How about RS or Farnell?

Most of that you could get from Hi Fi Collective. Not always the cheapest but the service is first class-

Not really actually.
Those two DACs they sell as boxed completed. Main difference both are dual ES9018 for left and right seperately. + 4 dual opamps
generally the idea way of regulation, analog stage digital stage are similar. But not totaly same. Dual es9018 board they do not sell DIY purpose.

at both 002 and 003 power reg, digital stage and analog stage are one PCB.
For DIY purpose board digital and analog stage on same PCB.
power regulation separate which gives flexibility for different power regulation. On the contrary there is single ES9018 for both channel and 7 mono opamps.

Thanks Ali Tait,
I managed to find a local company who works as distributor for digikey and mouser... they combine and make weekly shipments.. ordered to them full list.
Next week friday goods are expected.

Chassis is going to be mdf frame which will be veneered with 3 mm mahogany.

Dimensions are going to be as below. PS stage will be little tight, but my rack system do not allow wider.

Collected components ;
- LKS dac board
- panel screen
- placid HD bipolar for 15 volts
- ark boards for 5 volts
- supreme sound V5 discrete single opamps

Components for ark board 5 volt supplies and transformers are expected soon and chassis will be produced accoring below drawings.

Box frame including veneering has been completed.
All soldering works for pcb 's completed.

Bottom aluminium and top brass covers has been cut.

Layout controlled. Dimensions of internal seperations taken. Will be cut from copper plate.

All seems ok. Just screen request, another base behind, to be fixed front wooden frame from inside.

That's quite an impressive project Yetkin. Seems a hassle but how about using solder to join the shielding?

Nice layout ! reminds me of some of the best Pioneer CD players

Yes a good suggestion, maybe remove components temporarily when using what would be a fairly hot iron.
Slightly higher priority if it was me, would be to use coax shielding as part of the wiring. To do coax shielding, the method I use
is to extract the inner core of say RG58 using the silver wire vs copper outer shield type, then use enamel wire for the required wire from one point to another.
You are then in effect, if the coax shield is connected to the copper plates at ends, extending the benefit of the shielding throughout.

Using a Star earth as well his DAC project will ensure best grounding practice. Remember to connect star earth to chassis
and wire to safety ground.

Cheers / Chris

Thanks for recommendations.
Thought a lot on how to make the connections of shielding. In home condition making the soldering will be challenge for me.

I did not tried but do you thing soldering machine 400-450 C will be enough. I am again away home but tomorrow evening will be back to Istanbul.

I will be carefull with safety earth Chris ;)

Back panel and top covers are cut. İnputs and outputs at back panel are opened.
And at last for now, a raspberry pi2 have been embedded inside chassis, which will be powered with the remaining 5v LPS line.

It's rather large! Could you put some of the circuit boards on their sides?

Yes it become big. :) I worked several layouts, at the end decided with this one.

why I choose this.
- the shortest possible AC and DC lines inside the box
- having reserve place for future upgrades
1) clock module with separate lps
2) ı2s module for raspberry (Ians Fifo or similar)

Here there are the AC and DC lines and connection points at pcb.

Finally I could find some time for the project and wanted to finish this weekend. Unfortunately Murphy's Law was there. I could not get voltage with transformer at the secondaries of 230v to 15 v's which was for bipolar. Contacted supplier but will take some time. So I order a new one from local producer.

So far everything is ok. 5V s are working. Raspberry active. Screen is working.
Made again gomme-laque french polishing with matte surface but still the texture of mahogany visual.

Finally I have completed my new DAC

Last 2 days I am listening. Very promissing. After burn -in period all will settle.

I had a problem with bipolar Placid HD power supply, surprisingly we understood that the problem was with PCB after bridging externaly a resistor and cap it is solved.

Now all works fine.

Next stage is setting up raspberry pi with picore player and separate vortexbox server.

Thank you very much Grant. I made one more frame of this wood and going to change valve pre chassis.
And also add a front panel from this mahogany again to power amp. :)

Rack will more look like in order.

Today I made a sdcard with picoreplayer for raspberry pi2 and loaded vortexbox into netbook.
Before I was listening daphile as client and had LMS in Nas, this setup was playing more relax and warm then picore +vortexbox.

Could you recommend any other player for pi which operates from Ram.
As pi is powered from LpS inside the dac they open and shut down together picore type ram players do not use after startup sdcard and when you shut down you dont damage the card.
Do you know any LMS player for pi similar picore.
