Very nicely. I decided to start doing some box swapping this year and this is a good place to start. So, it's my new reference SS power amp, no doubt to be replaced with something else. It's not really reference level but hey-ho. I'm just using it to mess around with new speakers I've been using the B&W's and some Heybrooks HB2's (nice speakers).

The 405-2 was a reference quality amp when released. I've only used one once, but heard quite a few. They sound very good driving ESLs (naturally). Like many amps, how it sounds though different speakers seems to vary.

I had a 405-2 filled with Net Audio MK3 upgrades. Lovely amp! Still regret selling it!

The standard Quad 405ii was my first ever 'proper' hifi amp - driving Quad 63 stats - just cheap Japcrap with teenyweeny power supplies before that.
Wow - blew me away!
I'd be very interested in a comparison between the standard unit and the NET upgraded ones ... anyone?
