The very, very rare all black Akai GX625 used at the show is now for sale! Hi Fi world page 72 July 2009 likened it to the Technics RS1500, Sony TC765 and Pioneer RT-909.

Those who heard it were stunned at how good reel to reel is. I have measured in my labs and it is flat to 24Khz. All functions work perfectly including the memory rewind. I'm not looking for a fortune.

always worth a punt though eh... to be fair apart forom resale value its not worth anything to me as i have no use for it ... as much as it would be nice to own and get into another format, i couldnt really justify the time or expence! as dave knows i have other things i would prefer to buy from him at the mo!(jelco 250) not to mention the fact panasonic have made the gf1 and the fact i really need a nas (qnap 409 if anyone has one for sale?) im also looking to buy a avondale amp, a avondale tpx2, an a.n.t and a house.... and just the stuff in my need pile... i also have a want pile. pesky material desires ... what would jesus think eh .. i fear my "treasure in heaven" is not currently within an arms reach :)

It looks like a lovely machine. I suspect you're looking for more than I have in my warchest at the moment, but I will wish you luck! Perhaps it could switch someone new to reel to reel - the format of kings :)

If it's anything like as good as the TC765 it should be a goodie....

To be honest, in Europe, Revox and, to a lesser extent, Tandberg, had the market in our dealership, the others being bought for their solid build. Today though, Revox B77's look so boring, despite their generally excellent performance and spares availability.

Well, it's not a very common model especially in black, but everything is there and it looks like new and works like new. If someone collected it and gave me 300 notes I would be happy. On eBay good ones have fetched about £400, and bad ones a lot less.
