As many of you will know Jeff did a live concert on Thursday night televised on BBC 2 and on radio 2 to go with the release of this new album after 15 years ! It is a masterpiece and Jeff is a genius the same sound and harmonys it's like the classics here again ! I'm sure this is playing now on naim creek Audiolab etc all over the uk and deserves to be indeed it sounds lovely on my denon Nad tannoy budget set up ! So as the wind blows and rain forecast don't bother washing the car but sit back and listen to Jeff

Saw a TV ad for this and meant to get it but forgot as usual. Thanks for the reminder I'll go and get it now.

I was looking forward to this release and had my copy on pre-order via Amazon... I wouldn't call it classic ELO, its certainly closer to Balance of Power than Out of the Blue. The lack of strings is disappointing, but its quite catchy in places... :)

I quite liked 'Balance of Power' so looking forward to it.

Think I might get this for my old man.

Btw, what are Jeff's sole albums like?

This is quite lo-fi and grungy-sounding to me (download and vinyl). Not unpleasant (and presumably intentional). A bit like a cassette recorded with Dolby C. Think it would've benefited from just a little air and space.

I was going to post the same thing. Like an early 'Seventies recording - as you say deliberate but not sure it was the best choice as I don't think the songs are that strong and some beautiful sounding production would have helped.
