Glueing the base plate

Mike has kindly posted the instructions on fitting the base plate.

Just trying to find out how much paint you guys sanded of to glue the base plate down, mine is the mk5g version with quite thick glossy coating.

Can this be easily done with sand paper? I don't have a dremel.

It should be possible. It's only paint. Just take your time so that the glue will key into the surface properly.
I don't have a base plate or a Mike New bearing though.
