This could be a numpty question but hey if you don't ask etc..

CD/DVD players don't have output selectors , so if I have a Digital co-ax cable into a DAC > RCA > Amp and also RCA direct to amp , is the CDP's circuitry being over used or are they in use anyway ?
The amp would also be receiving the music twice but that has an input selector , is the amp being over used as well ?

Pretty sure its not gonna matter. Unless the cd player has a switch to switched off its dac section then its all on. Amp will only process which one you select

In terms of the amp, it would be the same as having a tuner and cd player connected with both powered up. Quite a normal situation.

And of course you can switch between the inputs to do a rough listen to see which sounds the best and in what way.. (I say rough, because likely one will be louder than the other and the brain prefers the louder).
