Hi,
Very sad news. I have many of his songs and productions in my collection.

Dean, that Pointer Sisters version is amongst my very favourite records ever - did you check the first link in my initial post though, really nice version by the man himself.
There's also a Lee Dorsey version of the same song knocking about.
If you're a contemporary music fan you really need to know about this guy, as he was just an amazing contributor (definitely up there in the kinda Quincy Jones type league of achievement).

Hi Marc,
I didn't look at your first link so I missed that. I agree, he has made an amazing contribution to music. It is quite amazing the amount of times he pops up on great records either as a writer, musician, arranger or producer.
Here's some more of his stuff he wrote.

He produced this heavyweight.

I didn't know his hand in this one either (until they played it on 6 music this morning)

And I didn't realise that The Meters are the backing band on it until I read this (which also has a alternative version by Boz Scaggs that's pretty good): http://www.aquariumdrunkard.com/2014/07/30/aaron-neville-allen-toussaint-hercules-1973/
