I received my 7510 back today from Jimmy at Tirna with its new Wolfson DAC chip fitted. The rest of the mods previously done to it include some Black Gate caps and a 4562 op-amp.

I have been listening to the 7520 solely, again Wolfsoned with a pair of AD826's in it, for the last few months with a great deal of pleasure.

Plugging the 7510 in this morning I wasn't expecting it to outperform the 7520 and indeed it doesn't. The 7520 is far superior, it does everything better.

Mind you I guess the 7510 will need running in for a few days again I expect to get it up to full potential ;)

How are you finding the AD826 compared to the 4562s?

I'm looking for something with a bit more current than the 4562's.

I've tried a fair few op-amps in the past in the 7520 but went with the 826's after a recommendation on here from a fellow forum member.

I prefer them personally as I like their smoother fuller sound. I found most of the other op-amps I tried very detailed but a little harsh to my ears with prolonged listening.

It's a personal choice though and appears to be system dependent too upon reading other folks findings on here.

I have to agree with you. This whole opamp experimenting business reminds me of my cartridge swapping days. But instead of DIL sockets for the opamp we had spare headshells.
Sometime in years to come someone will probably list on ebay a TC-7520 or Caiman with a selection of opamps in near mint condition:lol:.
