I have one on my Sondek.
Deck is probably late 1970's so assume arm has always been on.

A cursory search of the web reveals little info about this Linn specific arm.

Is this a desirable thing? Certainly looks beautifully engineered.

On a par with SME of the same era? (SME factory is in my village coincidentally)

Baby brother to the wonderful FR 64S. A lovely little arm which we sold back in the early 80s and often on the LP12. Frowned upon by Linn folk but our customers loved it.

I read that Ivor had some input into the design of it?

If that was so why would Linn folk frown?

Linn is 17260 serial number so probably 1978 vintage. Would the FR12 have been available then?

Ivor had nothing to do with the design. It was a total Japanese product along with their more expensive arms, wonderful MC cartridges and step-up x'mers.

You'll be suggesting Ivor had a hand in the design of the Ittok next. :D

I did once see the catalogue of a company (possibly called Denon but not the usual Denon). The Ittok was in there although without the Linn printing on it

My understanding is that the Ittok was produced by a division of Denon, but its construction appears to owe much to Mr Ikeda's designs.

Back in the 80s, I had a catalogue from a large Japanese company which manufactured a vast range of tonearms. I believe it was Jelco or Melco but I can't be sure and I've searched everywhere for it but to no avail.

In this catalogue you could find just about every arm fitted to turntables from the major Japanese companies as well as variations on the Linn arms. Every design could be ordered in various forms - silver, black, 9, 10, 12 inch, straight cable exit, 90o exit, no cable, OFC, etc, etc. It was mind boggling at the choices. Anything was possible if you could order in quantity.
