I bought Steve Earle's first LP ‘Guitar Town’ in Reckless Record on Islington Green in 1986 - 15 great LPs and nearly 30 years later, he produces ‘Low Highway’.

In my opinion he's one of America's greatest living songwriters and he has a great backing band at present.

This LP has a loose narrative of post Katrina New Orleans and American society post the 2008 economic crash, and whilst many of the songs are from the angle of the downtrodden there is an uplifting seam of hope running through the whole thing. Anyway enough of that...good songs, good narrative, and great musicians (good politics!!)

Shame overload. just finished listening via amazon prime. Its a decent effert from Steve, a man never far from controversy in his life. This is a bit different from the ones i had of his from the 90's. The title trsck especially is very good as is loves gonna blow my way. Overall a 7 from me

Not really my taste in music. Only one track was ok, 'loves gonna blow my way' so 5 / 10.

I'm a fan of Steve Earle and Americana generally and whilst not my most favourite of his stuff I'll give this a steady 7.

Really enjoyed his recent live shows.

Excellent - I have a couple of Steve Earle recordings (can't tell you what they are; I would have to dig them out to let you know the titles), but his easy style of country/bluegrass Americana goes down well with me

8/10 :)

Saw Steve Earle a few years ago at End Of The Road festival. Really enjoyed that and really enjoyed listening to The Low Highway too. Deserves a repeat listen. An 8 from me. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yes I quite like this , there are some good songs on here , Invisible which can get under your skin and my favourite After Mardi Gras , a strong 7/10 not 8 as I don't think I'll be buying it.

I think Steve Earle is great, and I have three of his albums which I enjoy very much. However, the best is still Copperhead Road:

I've not heard The Low Highway - so I need to do something about that now!
