My old friend came to visit yesterday and handed this to me. Said he had a clear out and found this, which he says i loaned to him years ago. Umm....my memory ain't what once was but I don't ever remember owning one of these. I don't believe it's anything to get excited about but maybe some of you folks know something about it?

Plugged it in. The power light doesn't come on but it warms up when left on for a while. I'm a bit wary of hooking it up to my system but i guess it could be a back up perhaps if it's a runner. Any sage advice from you folks out there?

Cheers

That's what Obi-Wan Kenobi said about R2D2 and look how that turned out...

Looks like a tidy little amp - phono stage, 25wpc - from the early 'Eighties. Would have been budget range but £200 in 1980 is £500 now. I'd give it a try on some cheap speakers just to check is working okay. Power light issue: probably just the bulb has gone.

Yeah, give it to me for my kitchen.

Seriously though it'll do alright man. Myself and a chum passed one of these around back in the day and hammered it with no problems driving some BIG speakers.

I had one!

It was part of a stack system in a cabinet. I bought mine second hand but mint around '87 for 120 quid. It included the amp (pictured) a tuner, a tape to tape and a deck. It formed the basis for my upgrade path as everything was independent rather than some of those stack systems at the time.

OK, speaking to my older brother it seems he loaned it to me years ago when I was having the Cyrus II serviced. Seems he's not interested in having it back. Umm....maybe he has a cheap pair of speakers I can borrow!

If you have some headphones, try it on those perhaps.

I have a SU-V303, pretty good.

Good shout Alex, I'll try that.

So I got around to testing this Amp. Everything seems to be working just fine. It's probably unlikely that I'll be using so I'll keep it as back up just in case. Be happy to loan to an AoS member if they find themselves in need of a temporary amp to keep themselves up and running.
