in 2007 i bought a pair of Ruark Talisman 2s (to replace a pair i had sold to purchase to buy a pair of Ruark Crusader 2s) . the more i listened to the Talismans, the more i realised that i was becoming more dissatisfied withe the Crusaders (which i had bought on the advice of a Former Friend)as he was always going on about how good they were.
first of all i want to say that the Crusaders are not a bad speaker in fact they are very good !!, but the more i listened to the Talismans (at about half the price of the Crusader) , the more i realised that i prefered the Talismans which i thought (pound for pound) were a better speaker .
with the courage of my convictions , i sold the Crusaders and kept the Talismans(funnily enough i bought a pair of Sonus Fabers--strange old world ain't it ??)

I quite like Ruark speakers. The little Swordsman is an unsung bargain. They sell for peanuts and sound really excellent.

Ruark Talisman 2's are voiced quiet differently to earlier Ruarks, they are a little brighter, more forward and less classic sounding. When they came out I preferred the slightly warmer Prologues, though they lacked detail and openness in comparison.
I guess much depends on room and system.
Where these mk1 Crusaders, as the mk2 and mk3s are a very different beast to the mk1's, with the mk3 very different.
The best Ruarks in my view were the Equinox, wonderful speakers.

The Templar and Templar 2 are also very good. Two way infinite baffle and there is a chamber for adding bags of sand/shot in the bass. They are still under the radar - I secured a pair for a friend for just £115 a couple of years back. They suit his 11x12 room superbly, balanced sound, no boom, plenty of life and air, easy to drive.
This isn't that particular pair, it is a stock photo:

If I had room, I'd be tempted. Much as I'm tempted by the similar sized Wharfedale 708s that are on there at the moment! They're definitely a bit special.

Little known, but a direct competitor to the renowned Celestion SL600. Likely to be a sonic bargain.
This is a shame - bloke says he has owned them from new but the bass drivers and tweeters are knackered. And they are unobtainable without cannibalising another A series speaker. Why would you pay so much money for something then let it get smashed up like that?

i think they might be the Templar 2s , which , IMHO , are not a patch on the MK1s

Yes indeed, plenty of veneer supplied with them.
A winter project, though I'm not sure what kind of finish yet.
They put the Kef 105's to shame, drum kits are awesome.

I was worried they might excite some room nodes.
They don't.
Sounding wide open and effortless.
There is so much information in the lower registers you don't notice until you hear/feel it.
I now have a pair of Tannoy DC6 for sale.
I bet they are like penny whistles in comparison.
