Pioneer PD-S505 Precision Vs. PD-S703 as a transport

I am currently running a PD-S703 through a Caiman II DAC in my system.
Is it worth getting hold of a PD-S505 Precision instead?

Will there be a noticeable difference between the two?

I wouldn't bother. I use my CMII with a £35 CDP. And I last week I got an email from another forum member who put his £2400 CDP up for sale after trying the CMII with the SFW3 Firmware with a far cheaper DVD player. The SFW3 method of operation does its best to iron out variations in data stability between different sources.

Are you saying that the PD-S703 will be fine?
Would I get any benefit fraud m changing to a DVD player?
I have a Denon in the house that I could try, and an old Sony (DVP-S535?) in the UK that I could bring over on my next trip back.

I run a PD-S705 as a backup to my Squeezebox Touch. The PD-S705 is probably very similar to your 703. In truth the PD-S705 is very slightly better than my Squeezebox but with over 8000 albums in my collection the Squeezebox wins out for convenience (any CD available within seconds from the Squeeze Commander Android App).

The 703 is highly thought as a transport (the 505 maybe a smidgen better but not worth losing any sleep over) :-
